Last October I decided to spent a weekend in the UK. I flew from Amsterdam to Southampton on Friday the 22nd of October and flew back on Sunday the 24rd of October. In between I visited three games, starting on the Friday with Bristol City versus Queens Park Rangers at Ashton Gate. 14,552 people took the time to attend this game, a proper turnout for a team that was languishing at the bottom of the Championship at that time. Ashton Gate is a proper football ground which oozes character, no doubt about that.

Many thanks ospelgull for sharing your English October football weekend with us, as bbcgull said, this board gets great use on here and we are so thankful to all the members who take time to put up such wonderful ground reviews.
I have fond memories of my first trip to Aston Gate, but they were not really football related as such. That must be the reason I can’t even remember the year I went there nor the result.
Doing my best to try and come up with the year the best I can do is suggest it must have been in the early 80’s? I’m just not sure but maybe one of our history boys can come with some information about when we did play Bristol City around that time and what the final score was.

Dave...
Could've been for the 0-0 draw in the FA Cup in November of '81? We then got beaten at home in the replay 2-1.
Or...
The 4th Division game up there on the 28th Sept '82 when we won 1-0 with a Gallagher goal?
Or one you'd surely recall...
The 4th Division game on the 24th September '83 when we left Ashton Gate with our tails between our legs after a walloping 5-0 drubbing!

Well thank you nice man Leigh for going to all that trouble, the trouble is I'm even more confused now than before. Why could we not have just played them the once in the early 80's ? I'm getting on a bit now you know.
