With a number of Plainmoor Ladies suffering from flu the team manager only had nine players to put out against a full Bideford team.
After going a goal behind the Plainmoor ladies battled hard and by half time were winning the game by two goals to one.
They did well to hold onto their lead in the second half but with ten minutes to go, conceded a late goal and the match ended two all.

Plainmoor made the long journey to Bideford with only 9 players and would have been happy to come away with keeping the score in single figures. But after the most battling performance in Plainmoor’s history they was unlucky not to come away with all 3 points.
Bideford took the lead after 10 minutes surprisingly against the run of play when a rare defensive mishap allowed a Bideford striker in on goal to Finnish coolly from 12 yards past player of the match Laura Maguire, only moments earlier Hayley Chamberlain of Plainmoor had a rasping free kick tipped over the bar by the Bideford keeper, that was quickly followed with a left foot drive from open play that just fizzed past the Bideford goal.
Plainmoor kept up the pressure on the Bideford defence and was soon rewarded for their hard work on 20 minutes when a great right wing cross from Jess Mayte-Milenkovic found Tash Martin who flicked on a neat header at the near post for Lisa Chapman to coolly volley in to bring the game level.
With 30 minutes on the clock all Plainmoors hard work paid off when debutant Tash Martin beat two Bideford players on the edge of the box before firing in a shot that was deflected past a helpless Bideford keeper.
The second half was to be somewhat of a hold on exercise for Plainmoor who defended resolutely until all the Bideford pressure paid off and they equalised with only 10 mins left on the clock, but the spirit that Plainmoor Ladies had for the game there was no chance they was going to let Bideford score again to steal the points & dug in deep to see out the remainder of the game.
I would just like to say in all the games I’ve played & spectated in I don’t think I’ve ever seen such a battling spirited performance from a team that was up against it from the 1st till last minute of a game and I feel one very proud manager, no one went hiding today and every one of my nine players can hold their head up highs in what will go down as one of Plainmoors best ever results.
