You could not make it up could you and it could only happen in Torbay, due to Torbay Council's parks department not knowing how big a football pitch needs to be.
White Rock has had problems since it brought in outside contractors to carry out £125,000 worth of improvement works after receiving £119,000 in lottery cash from Sport England in 2003. There was over a 12-month delay from when they were due to be re-opened, but ended up being closed again within a fortnight on health and safety grounds after problems with sand slits that had been inserted but failed to knit. At least three players suffered ankle or knee injuries in pre-season games, so the pitches
Games have been played on the pitches since then until a complaint was received by a referee to the South Devon League about the size of the main pitch. The length of the main pitch falls short of the minimum requirement by approximately 10 metres
The council will now start the work to make the pitch the correct size, but states it will take TWO WEEKS, but it does mean the Paignton Villa will have to find a new home for a few weeks. But Villa feel it will be OK and not as bad as last time when they were homeless for two years after the improvement work was found to be faulty, and for almost another season after that when the pitch was still considered unsafe to play on.

I`ve played against them a couple of times now and i`m afraid I find it funny as most of them would kick you before even thinking about kicking the ball, except mainly their big striker( old bill from paignton I think he was) he was tough but fair, late alot but not intentionally. Tell you what though he was a big mother and you new he was there!
