As If that son Of mine did not have enough to do in life, what with his full time job, South Devon League Registration Secretary, a councilor On the Devon FA, he has taken on yet more. He Is now the assistant manager Of the under 18 Devon F.A football side and he will be leaving on Friday to travel to Essex as the team Is playing there In the FA Youth Cup. Don't forget to leave some time to see your dad mate.

Good luck to your son, you must be very proud of him.
I used to play a guy who was involved with the Devon FA for years. I guess he knows Steve Jane of Harbertonford. Top man

Well I took Ant to coach road this morning, as the team Is traveling up today and will be staying In a hotel at Waltham Abbey. They will them travel to the game somewhere In Essex, but I'm not sure Of the ground the game will be played at. I did get It slightly wrong, as It Is the County F.A. Youth Cup and the Devon under 18's will be play the Essex under 18's squad. It will be a welcome change for Ant to be able to stand On the touch line and shout out to the players. For over 27 years he has had to put up with me, standing on the touch line and shouting at him. Since his first game at the age Of six I have watch nearly ever game he has played In. He only stopped playing partly due to the massive work load he has doing all the work he does for local football, but also that he would not be asked Or expected to do any favors Or rule bending for a club he was playing for. He has only ever wanted to make sure that everything Is fair for each and every club and I know all those In local football state what a great job he does. I was hoping to go out and enjoy the rare thing In the sky today, I think Its called the sun, but he wants me to scan all the post and all those hand posted through the letter box(transfer requests etc) that come In by 3pm and then email them to him, so he can sort them all out. What are dads for hope you have a great time Ant and the team does you proud and you get the win and go into the next round. Take care Dave

Well all todays transfer requests have been scanned and emailed to boy wonder. If you were hoping to play for your new club tomorrow, but your club does not get an email from Ant later, giving them the nod, then you can blame me ;D

That'll be the Waltham Abbey Marriott then...............I used to carry on a "little liaison" there in the dim and distant past - used it so many times they offered special terms!

Cracking hotel, just been chatting with Ronnie Moor the Tranmere Manager, what a nice chap taking the time out to chat. The game is at Harlow Town FC with a 1 pm kick-off if anyone wants to cheer on the lads from Devonia.

Nice little ground - I'll make a concerted effort to stick my photos of it up for everyone to see what a tidy little set up it is. (Probably Saturday night at the earliest). As for the result?.........I'll HAVE TO sit on the fence!!

We lost 2-1, which is how the 1st half finished, the boys was off the pace in the 1st half but after a hairdrying experience at half time from the manager we came out & battered Essex in the 2nd half, hit the post with a cracking free kick & then a rasping drive onto the bar & then came the contrevasy with about 10 mins to go there was a goal mouth scramble which resulted in a Devon player having a shot deflected into the top off the net & bouncing out & the ref waved play on as he said the ball hit the bar,now on the previous two occasions we hit the woodwork you heard the hollow sound of the goal frame but not this time as you could quite cleary see the ball bulge the net at the top with no thud of the bar, then on 89 mins he turned down a cast iron penalty when one of the Essex defenders punched the ball as he was lying on the floor just as one of our attackers was about to strike the ball. The Essex chairman came up to us at the end & could quite not believe that the referee or his assistant never gave the goal, oh well we came away very deflated but heads held very high for a very spirited performance. What a fantastic set up they have there at Harlow Town & the hospitality was very good.
