So when are you breaking up for your Christmas holiday break? Maybe you have already started it as I know some of the companies I called on today had already closed down and their premises were all locked up.
How long off do you have? And when will you be going back to work again? Maybe you have to work over Christmas or be on call, is that you?
Tomorrow (Thursday) is my last day and I won’t be calling on very many of my customers. I will miss out all the calls in Dorset and most in Somerset and simply drive up the M5 to Weston-Super-Mare and do a number of calls on the way back down the M5.
I have to back at 12pm anyway as the boys of the company all go to the café near by on the estate and enjoy an English breakfast together, all paid for by the boss. Then I’m off until January 4th as there is not much point us working as most of our customers won’t be.
We also enjoy an evening meal out for Christmas all paid for by the boss, it’s our Christmas party and our partners are also included and paid for. We all get a Christmas bonus as well and for many that is a thing of the past, but one thing that is good about Toolfix is, we have held onto such things.
Yesterday it was someone’s birthday and they were waiting for me to get back so the cake could be cut and the wine drunk. Once again the boss pays for the cakes and drinks etc and its these little things that do make working for Toolfix that much better than other firms I have worked for.

Off for Christmas and New Year but working the three non-Bank Holiday days in between (although my choice being self-employed). It is nice to have Christmas and New Year completely away from work having been in different jobs in 35 years of my 42 years working life where working those holiday periods was a requirement. Retail must be one of the worst these days to be in, with several shops and supermarkets being closed only on Christmas Day, and in Ivybridge we have one convenience store / newsagents that is not even closing on Christmas Day. Now I wonder if there will be any football to enjoy over the holidays ... if not I bet it will be the fault of those pesky police!

I finished college last Friday (I should have finished Thursday but went in to do the radio and the Principals Speech) and I finished work an hour ago. Back on New Years day.
I`m off to Manchester to see the army full of family then off to Derry in Ireland to see more family.

Thats a bit tough Paps as Christmas really should be all about spending time with loved ones and family. That Davybeat knew what is was like to spend the whole of Christmas working in hotels, only he got paid more for doing any one night, than I get paid for working all bloody week now Your hard work and dedication to your job that ensures others have a great Christmas, will get its rewards in the end. Enjoy what you can of Xmas Paps. Dave

Well I had to have Monday off because it was too bloody dangerous to drive into work, Tuesday I went out to start my van and the battery had been killed by the cold and need new glow plugs, Wednesday I went into work, got there felt extremely ill so I went home and went to bed, yesterday was still very ill and spent all day in bed ( can`t handle any more day time telly ) and this morning still ill but a bit better than yesterday, probably feel like shit tommorow and am praying that I`ll be alright for the game. I have no idea when we are back but also don`t really care that much at the moment, that will change when I feel better and am bored stiff doing sod all! Merry bloody Christmas, last year it was tooth ache, I`m starting to think Santa hates me!
