I bet you have done it as well, you know asked yourself what life was all about and just why you were here. But just what is life? It’s different for each and every one of us and yet it all starts the same way.
I say starts the same way but that only really applies to the fact of how we came to be in the first place and how we escaped the womb and took our first breath out in the open and no longer in the bag of water.
From here on in it could just depend on what world you were born in, were you born with a silver spoon in your mouth and would never know what hunger and poverty was? Were you born in poverty but in a world full of love that surely was worth more than any other forms of riches?
You might have been born in a world were you were not wanted and had everything stacked against you ever having a life full of happiness and love. So yes when we took that first real breath of fresh air, we were all going on different paths and would all lead different lives.
Life is what you make it they say, but is that really true? There are people, who work so hard to make a better life for themselves and find they are the ones who always get the knockbacks, the ones who only ever seem to get the bad luck.
While others seem to have everything they want just fall in their lap and get all the luck, maybe it is better to be born lucky and not rich as they say. I think that saying about life is what you make it, really means more about making the best of what you have got and learning to cope and with all life may throw at you.
I bet when you were young you had a mister nobody living in your house; you knew one lived in your house because your mum told you so. “Which one of you children broke the TV remote” all the children in the house then said “not me” so mum said it was mister nobody again who must have did it.
But in real life there is not a mister nobody, how many times has it always been someone who hurt you or caused you pain? How many times has it been someone else who was making your life hell? How many times have you said to yourself “if there were no other people in the world my life would be perfect.
But would it really then be perfect? NO and because we all need to have other people in our life and yes we will have some we wish we didn’t, but what would life be with out friends and people to love us and care about us and want us in their lives.
For most of us, life is about trying to pick our way through it as best we can, trying to laugh when we can and doing all we can to dry the tears when they happen to be falling down our face.
We then get old and die and may well ask again what it was all about, we may look back and wish we had done so many things differently only now it’s too late. That’s why I believe we should make sure we put things right before it is too late, make sure when it’s our time to leave this earth, we do so with a clear conscience and are happy in the knowledge we did out best to live the life we did have, as best we could.
Contentment comes from being happy with what you have and being grateful for it, real happiness comes from deep inside and being happy with who you are and I firmly believe before you can ever like anyone else, you have to like yourself.
Some people will die with not much more than they were born with, but might have lived a happy and fulfilled life. Others may take to the grave vast fortunes but never along the way of acuminating them, enjoyed real happiness, enjoyed real love that was priceless.
What is life all about? Not sure I really know the answer and don’t think I ever will, but I will from time to time keep asking the question as there really must be an answer surely.
