Seems strange to see the manager Eric Webber in the programme personally appealing for people who wish to sponsor a match ball to contact him. Football clubs were slimmer affairs in those days, I expect he even did Aussie's job!  |

Even though Freddie King was the dedicated groundsman, the Plainmoor pitch was still cared for by the local Parks' Dept in those days and it was some years before Freddie was taken on the Torquay United payroll as an employee of the football club! |
