References in Timbo's programmes this week to Griff Norman who, as reported by Thursday's Herald Express, has recently died:
LAST WEEK'S 'The Way They Were' picture, of Torquay United's 1956-57 team, prompted some sad news. Centre-half Griff Norman, an ever-present during that memorable promotion near-miss campaign, died recently. Norman joined United from his hometown club Cardiff City in 1952. The two clubs enjoyed a close relationship at the time, with several players passing between them. Norman went on to play for Torquay for six years, making 234 appearances. He retired in 1958 and returned to live and work in South Wales.
Wasn't Griff Norman the player who left the full-time game early so as to resume a career in engineering?
