Ken Whitfield, who very kindly scored the OG; later became the very good Player Manager of Bideford FC and led them to probably their finest moment in holding Colchester United to a replay at Layer Road in the FA Cup in the 1964-1965 season before bringing them back to The Sports Ground and a replay in front of a packed house on a Wednesday afternoon....................Biddy had no lights in those days, but they had them by the start of the next season as they invested the cash windall from those cup ties in the four pylons and an excellent set of lights that were claimed to be "the finest in Devon" to boot. Am I right in thinking those pylons still stand today?

Am I right in thinking those pylons still stand today? They are - and, as a kid, I remember thinking how grand they looked. Try Google Maps Street View at EX39 2NG (aim for the strange reference to Bideford Railway Station)
