On our way home from our day out in Bideford we came back through Winkleigh and just as we were past the village and going down a slight hill, I noticed over the hedge a bit further on a football pitch and was able to drive into the car park and take some shots of the ground.
Winkleigh AFC does have its own web site but it may be new as there is little information on there and I clicked on the clubs history and there was no article at all. Using the net I do believe they play in the Devon and Exeter League and are in division three and currently in eighth place. I was a bit surprised to see Chard in the same league as it’s in Somerset.
I’m sure Barton Downs maybe able to add more information on this thread as I expect he has been and watched the odd game or two at this ground.
There is a building near to the pitch that I think is more likely to be the village community hall and I’m not sure if the football club has any use of this building. It did look like they change in a building on the halfway line.
