Well love him or hate him, hes back, I always liked him as a player, along with players like John Impey, who I had a great chat with at the hospital a few weeks back.
Any way forget what sort of manager he was,his youth operation did generated around £1.3million in transfer fees. If he can have the same success and bring on the young players, it has to be Good for the club in the long term.

I have little doubt that Paul Compton will make a success of the new set up working with Matt. I am assuming the more professional approach generally and the sponsorship deal will give every opportunity. But a plea from me - just be patient and lets not expect instant success. This is a longer term project but its eventual value can be significant. Paul is a very personable chap. I have always enjoyed watching youth team action, (Merse will have seen me watching games in the 70's with the late George Slater both at Plainmoor and other venues across the SW), Paul was always happy to chat to supporters before youth team games and to answer questions about the players. All seems to be shaping up well for me!

I would echo those thoughts..............I've just taken a look at .net and on there is some of the most unadulterated, unnecessary and uncalled for crap on Compo I have ever seen posted on any subject. To scrape the barrel and attempt to justify objecting to his appointment "because he shouted at young players" when he was here before is the most ludicrous of all. To question his integrity in saying they don't believe his statement that he turned down a Premier club in the north (I believe it is Everton) to take up his Plainmoor role is scandalous to say the least. The hyperactive return to posting last night of one notable .netter who had been in virtual hibernation since the departure of Mike Bateson, seems to herald the return of his particular "one subject, one soapbox" style for the foreseeable future..............the school holidays must be on the horizon!

This club is going in the right direction. The return of the youth department is one of the best things to happen this year. I'll be a very happy man when the first player will make his debut in a couple of seasons? How old are the boys we're talking about anyway?

Not to sure but Sean will have the answer. It just makes the club so more professional. Mike B said it had to go just cost to much money. Shows even more the importance of having people prepared to sponsor our club.
