So Barry Fry has claimed that terms have been agreed with the Gulls for Jalal, can't really seeing the club paying anything near the £50.000 mark Fry seems to think he will get.
I think he would good for the club and if he signs then I'm sure Simon Rayner, will be on his way.

We need a decent keeper. I think its likely Raynor will leave because of the obvious friction between him and others but i have to say i am not a Rice fan and would rather it was him that left.

I agree. Can't see Torquay wanting to part with much cash. That being said we need a decent keeper for next year. Liked Rayner initially but wasn't great in the run in. Got to say that I'm not convinced with Rice either so it is a position that needs to be resolved. We seemed to play with much more defensive confidence when Poke was in goal...........

What is good is that we seem to be continuing the serious effort at improving the squad. Jalal or Poke or perhaps someone else it's all positive stuff and fires the enthusiasm for next season.

I can't see us paying anything like that amount. Exeweb is full of comments about us having lots of money (which worries me given that clubs will up their prices because we are seen to be "wealthy") but I think that is a bridge too far. (maybe I am wrong) Poke would be a great choice, but only if it was definate. To have him with a get out clause would cost us dear, we know what happened this season. The big question of course is whether our current GK and the gaffer have really patched things up. If so I would be happy to go into a season with Rayner but only if everyone is happy. We all know what happens if we are not happy at work. This jalal sounds good though and who knows? The only fact is that a happy, settled , confident keeper is a big cog in the machine for the coming season.

I would assume any move for Poke is dead in the water (unfortunately). I'm sure he'd have been first choice (perhaps even ahead of Nikki Bull?), so our persual of alternatives is probably an indication Poke won't be returning any time soon.
I'd personally be quite happy for Rayner to remain as number 1, but that seemingly isn't an option.
As for Jalal, i don't know much about him myself, but he's got mixed reviews from what i can gather. I think £50k is pie in the sky though. I very much doubt we'd be interested in paying half that...

I would also want Rayer as our number one, not sure how much Buckle wanted to bring him back anyway, might just have been a little word from above

I would love to see Poke here full time, you never know it might happen.Every body says that we were never the same team after loosing on boxing day,but for me we lost out on the league when he went back to southampton. With games in hand and the shots to play at home it was at that point still in our hands

One thing to consider is that TUFC have prepared a "hit list". Within the hit list certain players are targeted as priorities. However situations change, ie, Bull messing both Aldershot and us about and finally re signing for shots on a big salary package. I can assure you TUFC have prioritised the keeper situation. Finally, in the mad world of football transferes things change quickly, just when you think the Poke situation is dead, Sothampton sack the manager. New manager new faces. Never say never.
