I have been hearing rumours about this alternative site for some time now, but had no idea how to find it until someone on the dot net site put the address in a message today.
I must say that at first sight I am quite impressed, as the desire for sensible debate, and the quality of opinions, seems much higher, and I now realise why so many people suddenly started to disappear from the other site. Haven't seen any sign of Terry L on this site or on the other one for a while. Perhaps he can't find anything to moan about at the moment !!
I have to confess that most of my opinions have usually been about the halcyon days of the Sixties, which I believe the club will for many reasons never be able to repeat. For that reason I have often been labelled as a miserable old git, although anyone actually meeting me would find that description to be far from the truth.
The team is going so well at the moment, after a shaky start, and I wish them all the good fortune in the world in their quest to put the club back where it belongs. Good luck also to Dave R - I don't know you but at first sight you have made an excellent start with this.
Just one question (which may be answered elsewhere). What is 'karma' on the Profile Page ?

Hi stewart and a warm welcome to the forum, what ever your views you are free to express them here, we do not delete posts, or lock threads, all our members moderate themselves and thats how we like It.
Thanks for your kind words about the forum, quality Is what Is Is all about and a desire to treat everyone with respect, look how Joe has come On since he joined us.
karma Is a built In feature On the forum, It has always been turned Off, you would have been able to exalt someone or smite them, just think If Terry was on here and that was turned on ;D.
As you will see we have a best poster Of the week, for people to be able to vote, I have had to turn On the karma, but with the aid Of a code, I have been able to change the word karma, to Best Poster Of The Week that shows up on your mini-profile and also remove the words exalt and smite, and replace It with Vote. The work karma will still show up In your main profile.
Making these changes was the only way I could put a voting system Of the forum, by making the karma system Into something else. I hope I have explained It OK for you, so don't forget, If you see a post that you think Is really good, then vote for the member, you can vote only once an hour, but can vote for as many members you like during the week, If you think the post deserves a vote.
If you get a vote It will show In your mini profile and In your main profile the karma will show as one. I keep a list Of all those who get votes and the member with the highest votes win, then I have to spend ages resetting the karma to o in all the members profiles who got any votes.

Take a look at Merv's posting from yesterday on THAT site, (Wivelgull's Cup Memories) and take on board HIS feelings at how it's been mis-managed. Remember, this is the guy that started it up..................and he regards it as dead!

I wonder if he knows that the community he helped create is still alive and well. Dave...I dont think that you really know how gratefull people are for bringing our Torquay United forum community back to life....well I am anyway

Remember, this is the guy that started it up..................and he regards it as dead! What I find sad Is that there Is now a code running on that forum that Is showing members as on line when they are not, to make It look as If Its busy, just click on any name that Is showing on line and you will then see their profiles and the ones who really are. Why not be honest, members are on line or they are not, well Its not my way Of doing things

Well Svengali and the Kid are certainly left with egg on their faces. They wanted to be control freaks and ended up a couple of Billy No Mates with hardly anyone to control but themselves. Why not be honest you ask? Perhaps their arrogance and self belief now leads them to allude themselves in a sort of "Emperor's New Clothes" sort of way. Such delusion reminds me of that funny little guy with the moustache and big cap who on opening his bunker door proclaimed ..............."Voekme...................verreist Berlin?" - Boooooommmm!!!!

And when you see me at the game when I will have my leaflets, please don't think I'm sad, you see I have made myself a Torquay Fans Forum teeshirt think I will have to get JimD and Jamies shirt size, so when we have our next meeting we will all look so smart together

Thanks Dave R The idea for the title occurred to me because there appear to be members of this site who still contribute to the other one and who appeared to be worried about offending your counterpart by divulging any information about it. I'm sure that you are looking for as many members as possible and perhaps instead I should have quoted Basil Fawlty "Don't mention the war" !!

Wivelgull joined us early this morning Good! Gives me the chance to tell the miserable old git that it was Weymouth RESERVES in the Western League in 1965! Their first team (under a certain Frank O'Farrell) was on its way to the Southern League title - so would have been in the same league as us for 1965/66 if automatic promotion / relegation had existed back then! ;D
