Take a close look at the Young Boys v Tottenham game on Skysports2 this evening and se if you can spot that it is being played on an artificial ( Polytan Liga Turf) surface. This was the surface that was buried under 3,400 tons of soil and turf so that EUFA could play their 2008 Championships on natural rather than artificial surfaces that were "uniform" in substance throughout the competition. Then all the "natural" stuff was lifted up again and the current synthetic surface suffices for EUFA Champions League games ~ strange! Does anyone remember how the Stade de Suisse (Wankdorf) pitch played in 2008? and let's see if there is any significant effect on the game tonight.....................I bet their won't be! Another interesting aspect of the Stade de Suisse is in the solar panelled roofing that generates 700,000 kWa of power..............that's kilowatts per year to you and I! One would have thought with it's location and elevation, the Plainmoor Ground and in particular the new grandstand; would lend itself to this sort of technology added to a wind turbine on top of each lighting tower. Don't laugh, Plainmoor was one of the pioneers of having radio transmitters on it's pylons when I was the Business Manager at the club..................it was a great source of income then, and still is to this day; over thirty years later!
