A thread/book of condolence was started on this forum. the concept of a book of condolence whether it on a forum in the form of a thread or not, is very simple. you either if you wish leave your r.i.p message or you say nothing, its not rocket science, even the most UN-educated person knows how it works. Might I just ask for a bit of clarification here? I was completely unaware that the thread was designated as a "book of condolence". If adding "R.I.P" to a heading signifies that, then Merse's comment about duplication of threads is irrelevant as only one of the threads had that suffix. I clearly understand the significance and acceptable usage parameters of a Book of Condolence but it is far too easy, as proved, to be unaware that any thread is intended as such. Perhaps we could have a Book Of Condolence board or sub-board so that the intention is clear? I can understand that if anyone approaches threads from the Home page they will see the context of each thread depending on which board the thread is placed but someone like myself, who reads from the Top 75 list, doesn't have that benefit as all threads are mixed in together. When the day finally arrives someone might have a perfectly valid reason to start a Paul Raynor book on this site, but that is likely to attract a bucketful of flak from those who still remember the playoff Bruno incident. So how do we protect the concept of showing respect from those who don't have any respect for the person we are remembering?

i think i should start my reply with an explaination,as aim in the main only a reader of this site and do not contribute very often.
i know dave very well, and he knows that there are many topic's that come up on this site that, i feel, i do not have enough knowledge on to post.
i must apologize to loyalgull as i did not see his post, and thats were i should have responded,i posted yesterday because of the Stanfield thread, and would have regardless of whether dot net was down or not.
i have written the above,as i have no wish to cause offense.
my reply is,i thought to be honest that the main board was the right place to put the Stanfield thread.many who browse fans sites do not look past the main board,i if a member of this site chose to show his respect ,why hide it on a sub forum?
and i do not understand the confusion, when a thread is stared about the death of a person(does not have to be just a footballer)it surely can not be about anything else than paying your respects.
iam not suggesting for 1 minute that any person should have to follow like a sheep just because someone has died, however as said you surely either leave your message or say nothing.
it was relevant and valid for someone to bring up about the lady di syndrome..not on the thread were people were paying there respects, come on!
that should have been discussed on another thread, and i do not believe this was the case any way.
football is a community, clubs managers, players fans alike,if you look at the thread on exeweb that now has well over 500 replies, look at how far and wide peole have come from to post, many would not have even heard of Adam Stansfield.
why? because Adam was a 31 year old honest footballer and father,a real tradegy in my books, and like i say football is a community, and a lot of fans feel the loss of one of our own.
and like me spent no more than 2 Min's paying my respects, and getting on with our daily buissness...not a lady syndrome.

I for one, and I'm sure others who know you, will feel that is a shame because you are very often a voice of reason and someone who has an excellent record of honest contributions on whichever site you voice your opinions.
