I know that any comments about St. Pauli will interest at least two forum members. Hamburgs second Bundesliga team, having gained promotion last season have only German players - no "merse"naries (mercenaries) in their first team squad.

When I was down at Kipper's the other day, he told me about the local St Pauli Fan Club that meets in a pub near his home in Kennington. He also made me shat myself when he showed me the cost of buying their replica kits......................I worked it out at around £105 per kit ~ and they've got three!

yes he is quite a fan merse, St. Pauli are a "no frills" club and I think similar to wimbledon of old, they are promising to take the Bundesliga by storm this season. They play both Kaiserslautern and Frankfurt this season so I hope to be able to get Kipper another programme.

I've been to two St Pauli games in Kipper's company Frank: at home to Rot Weisse Oberhausen and away to Dinamo Dresden. If you can ever get hold of the special fiftieth edition of the CG's magazine, Capital Gulls; there is an extensive feature on our time in Hamburg and a great picture of Kipper arriving in the city after his budget flight.........................hopefully someone reading this has a copy and can scan it in.

...............and rumour has it that when TB1 had his first shite on return to England from our trip to Dresden, it all came out neatly packed in one of those latex rubber gloves that the Customs men wear!

I reckon the one to judge that if it were installed at Plainmoor would be Cav...............no need to slope off to the bar before half time then matey, eh? Recalling the old and rather shabby Millerntor from when I was last there, just looking at FCStP's rapidly rising and shiny "new" stadium is absolutely mind boggling and I just hope the atmosphere of old isn't compromised....................a very special place to start your Friday night on the town in Hamburg!
