This castle was a highlight to my holiday and a real surprise. It is located just outside Callandar.
We had a rather expesive meal in Callandar and then drove to Castle Doune.
Initially I thought that there wouldn't be alot there but after paying, we were given digital audio devices that had a really good narration from Terry Jones (Monty Python). As well as giving the history of the place, there were several Python references and linked many of the locations within the castle to the film Monty Python and the Holy Grail.
Thank goodness, as intimated by RomfordKev, the French were absent and they did not "fart in my general direction" ;D
