The South Devon Football League booked upstairs of Boots last night over a year ago for our AGM(we hold all our monthly meetings up there as well) & I personally spoke with Ann Sandford at the club the previous tuesday to confirm the booking still & was advised no problem all ok & they was going to open the bar upstairs as well. I turn up last nite at 6.45 to be told by boots & laces that TUFC have advised them late afternoon we are to hold our agm downstairs in boots, now can you imagine having a sensitive meeting with over 100 people in attendance & not enough chairs to go around & out the back of boots. The club did not even have the decency to ring anyone from the SDL (despite having my work number & Mervyn Benney being our president) to advise us of this & maybe an explanation as to why they had taken this decission. Thanks TUFC for trying to continue the links with local grass roots football!!

Maybe Sean can find out why this happened. I can understand how upset you must have been, I don't think the club wants nothing to do with local football. After all many players etc, must be fans

TUAFC1, I am sorry to hear that you had to relocate to the boots bar downstairs, however I know that building works are continuing in the number 10 restraunt, it is unfortunate that you were not informed, however TUFC do take the grass route fooball very seriously and this I am sure will be reiterated once I meet with Alex Rowe early next week. I feel the announcement of the youth setup giving an onus on young local youth is only part of the wider picture.

Thanks Sean, I phoned Ann today at the club & she explained to me that the bar was not quite ready & apologised for not advising me, I will pass this on to the SDL committee as I do believe we can all work hand in hand. The SDL has over 3000 local players registered & I was working with Daryl on some ideas to tap into this until his departure. Would be good to have some contact with the club & to show that TUFC do care in grassroots football, would be good to have 1 of our finals back up plainmoor again.
