Believe it or not, despite our stunted exit from the World Cup we've actually gone up a place in the FIFA World Rankings! The reason for this? Portugal dropped five places despite matching our progress in the 2010 World Cup and Italy's dismal showing has seen them drop 6 places to 11th. Uruguay's excellent showing in the World Cup has seen them rise 10 places to 6th, with Chile and Paraguay have also moved into the top 20. France though have plumetted 12 places to 21st and New Zealand have gained 24 places to be ranked 54th in the World. Earthquake hit Haiti have dropped 39 positions. They played in the 1974 world cup and were perhaps most famous for Emmanuel Sanon's goal against Italy which ended up setting Dino Zoff's record of playing 1142 minutes without conceeding a goal. Apparently that record still stands. Full results are here. www.fifa.com/worldfootball/ranking/

I've looked high and low but I can't find Cornwall.....................surely they can't be below Wales! They are below Wales with the Bristol Channel in between! Funnily enough our dear cave-dwelling, bat-eating, 7 fingered friends across the Tamar don't appear to have their own "National" Football Team that are affiliated to the NF (Nouvelle Federation) or the fledgling IFU (International Football Union) en.wikipedia.org/wiki/NF-Boardor even one in existance but not affiliated to anyone. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_non-national_representative_teams_in_men%27s_footballIt's worth noting that the United Kingdom is one of only five sovereign nations who don't have a FIFA affiliated team representing them. The others being Nauru, Kosovo, Monaco and the Vatican City.

I wonder if that well photographed Roman fantacist Giussepe Barlio and his little chums launch into an Italian version of "Shiiiiiiiiiit On The City................" ?
