Enjoyed it, even if it did bsolutely pi** it down outside, which didn't make nipping out for sneaky cigarette much fun Might pop along this year Andy if I'm free........all the beer one could want and the latest gossip from Plainmoor sounds like a pretty good prospect for a Wednesday evening to me

Andy, did you also try the Dutch and Belgiums beers? The Christoffel bier is from Roermond, about 15 miles from where I live.

Not had a huge amount of Dutch beer (aside from the big 'brands'). I have sampled a number of beers from Konigshoeven, which were good but not exceptional.
I'm a big fan of Belgian beer, and I would recommend starting a session at a beer festival with a good lambic - the perfect palate cleanser, and in many ways and situations, the perfect beer.
I've tried in vain to seek out a Westvleteren at British beer festivals, having only sampled its mythical and (despite the hype) magnificent beers in the cafe adjacent to the monastery. My hopes were once raised at the London Drinker after being told 'yes, certainly' on requesting it, only to be told a few seconds later that they'd 'run out'...presuamably after the dope had seen the 'selected guests only' sign in the fridge! My guess though is that any Westys will be long gone by the time the festival opens to the general public on Wednesday.
