Could the appointment of Martin Allen to Cheltenham spell the end to Alex russell as allen doesn't play his sort of football. I know we have signed loads of midfielders and we don't need anymore but I would make an exception for alex

Oh No. An Aggy to return thread. I expect him to continue in the middle of the park for Cheltenham.

We would all make an exception for him Stu, but there is no way I could see him coming here. Sure he is as good as we remember him, but I often think players the second time round, don't ever seem to play like you remembered they did and never seem to deliver like they once did.

Russell would certainly deliver if he came back here because he is simply much better than any of the other options we have, even Hargreaves does'nt get close. Unfortunatly though, even if Russell leaves Cheltenham, which im sure he won't as any manager would be mad to get rid of him, Im sure he will join another league one or, at worst league two side. He has said on many occasions that he wants to play at the highest level that he can and we have to be honest, he is to good for us. Though, a midfield paring of Hargreaves and Russell would probably be the best this club has had for some time so we can always dream!!

Russell is no "Hargreaves" they're poles apart in their style of play. Neither is he a "Mansell" in that he doesn't put the mileage in that Manse does. A midfield HAS to have balance, and in my opinion the only player currently at Plainmoor who replicates Aggy is Steve Adams, and his season has yet to get off the ground due to fitness problems. Having been here, done it and worn the tee shirt, Aggy will NOT be coming back; doesn't need to and it would not be a good career move. If he were to seek a move, why would he be influenced by geography? I'm sure he's more professional than that and were it only Westcountry clubs interested, I'm sure Yeovil and Plymouth would be first out of the blocks..................BSP and it's hurley burley is the last thing Aggy's career needs at this moment in time (in my opinion!)
