As many of you will be aware, Britain is in the grip of "a bit of a cold snap" originating in Russia. Suffice to say, due to the extreme snowy conditions last night, I invoked an "emergency" nights holiday - and stayed in the warmth and safety of my humble abode. This is fairly unusual in Essex, as Britain's snow normally comes from the direction of the USA and dumps all over Kent instead!! For those of you in the South West - get ready, it's on it's way!! Here are a few snaps I took from the confines of my home in Hornchurch this morning. THE VIEW FROM MY LOUNGE WINDOW. "OUR" TREE - WITH IT'S HEAVILY SNOW - LADEN BRANCHES. VIEW FROM OUR FRONT DOOR, UP THE GRASS BANK TO THE PATHWAY AT THE TOP. A QUICK VENTURE OUTSIDE TO LOOK ACROSS THE LAWN. REAR VIEW FROM THE SIDE OF OUR BLOCK. THE TREES OVERLOOKING OUR BLOCK. VIEW FROM THE SIDE LAWN, OVER THE NEIGHBOURS FENCE. FOOTNOTE: LETS SEE YOUR SNOWY PHOTOS OVER THE COMING DAYS.

And here are some from Ealing in West London at 7am this morning, plus the view from my office! No tubes or buses this morning. It was a slow but pleasant drive into work without big cumbersome buses being driven by ignorant twats. Having said that, the bloke who decides if the roads should be gritted should be castrated with a blunt rusty knife. To think that the A40 Westway into London was only cleared by cars using it is unbelievable. The first two are from last night. My poor car under a blanket of snow. Just passing Regent's Park. The view from my office blacony near King's Cross. The dome from La Scala in the background Towards Euston Road, the BT Tower and St Pancras. and one in black and white...........

You want to try being behind the wheel of a double decker or Bendy Bus when some twart in the car in front of decides he's going to put his foot on the brake peddle without the knowledge of how to apply Cadence Braking, skids and all of a sudden your "road" has gone. Having been professionally trained to drive on ice and proficiently proved my ability to do so I STILL felt unsafe out on the streets of London this morning and so it was out of the house at 5am to fulfil a pre-booked commitment, then straight back home by 7am as I wasn't prepared to gamble my safety and car with all the idiotic fools who cannot differentiate between a good surface and a frozen one. A day off for this self employed worker = no money earned and the very real prospect of handing one of the little 'uns over to the local chimney sweep to keep us all in food and winter fuel. Criminally there was NO salting done in London overnight and thus ALL bus services have been withdrawn and pretty much ALL the Tubes as there are very little staff getting into work. Once again those paid to serve the public have failed to do so, and I look forward to Boris's latest example of "whiff whaff" as he tries to explain this one......................."wouldn't have happened under Ken!" and a direct result of reduced budgets which I hope has cost the establishment millions as thousands of workers have taken the day off

Almost 2 o' clock and STILL the snow continues to fall.
The roads here haven't been gritted - so it's a lottery trying to even move your car.
Don't think I'll be risking damage to my car or more importantly myself on these treacherous roads - so it looks like no work for me again tonight!!
Ho hum!!

I averaged did no more than 30mph on the way in this morning. The main twarts on the road were our wonderful minicab drivers in there Volkswagen Sharan's. Although some daft bint in a Nissan Micra managed to shunt a Mercedes E Class on the Westway. I did try our "world class" tube system this morning, to board a district line train that hadn't moved for 40 minutes. A colleague of mine braved the picadilly line from Hounslow to King's Cross and he was stuck on the train for 2 and a half hours. The poor sod. It's a bit of a shambolic mess really. I think you were right to park up and go home. Addison Lee wouldn't be happy if you pranged the people carrier. The less said about you overtaking me at 95 mph on the M25 the other night, the better eh? Quite a turn of speed from the Driving Miss Daisy version I overtook outside of Lewes!

Many thanks boys for your excellent photos, just had a little flurry of snow and the path is a bit white here in Paignton, but thats it so far for us on the English Rivera. I did have some poor driving conditions this morning, it started from Honiton and from there to Weymouth there was snow on the roads and as they were not gritted they were very slippery.
At 8am the snow was falling hard in Weymouth and the same when I got to Dorchester. Yeovil was very white and the roads were bad there as they also had not been treated. After Yeovil I saw no more snow, Weston-Super -Mare was in sunshine as was Bridgewater, Taunton and Cullumpton and as I headed back toward Newton Abbot I could see no snow on the moors.
I will be in North Devon tomorrow and I know there was snow up there today, so may have more problems tomorrow than I did today.

It wasn't Miss Daisy I was driving, it was "Miss Jones" and I think the blast from the turbo on the M25 coincided with a change of CD! I see the pitch heating and protection at The Arse is a total waste of time.....................tomorrow's game with the Cardiff Animals has been called off due to "transport and access difficulties" Talking of the Gooners, I was at the home of a well known football agent last Friday (nice gaff too, there's a lot of money in that game) and my client told me that the big deal due to be completed today is already known as the "Arse Savin'" deal! He also told me that when Kaka found out there were TWO clubs called "Manchester.............." he nearly shite himself and couldn't pull out of the City deal fast enough and that when Berbatov signed for Manure in the summer it was only because Sir Alex himself waited to hijhack him at Manchester Airport, where he was en route to Eastlands; and told him he'd be a fool to chuck his career away and made him and offer he couldn't refuse. The things you hear!

Apparently The Emershites has perfectly functioning heating system, they said on sky sports news that the game is off until Valentines day because of health and safety issues with transport and the Joe Public getting around in the ground, not because the under soil heating don`t work. Still adds up to the same thing though, waste of time and money if you can`t use it!

Just thought I'd add a few pics I took earlier ... I knew I was going to struggle to make it to work as soon as I opened my back door ... No London buses this morning ... and soon realised the train was a no go as well ... Croydon town centre. No sign of the trams that usually run through here ... East Croydon platform 1. A little quieter than normal.

That hump behind the washing line is actually our Christmas tree I never got around to taking down the tip!! And I'm claiming a full 12 inches by this afternoon ...
