A great day out matched by the performance on the pitch. I was the one with my children getting an autograph from Tarzan.

For someone who is half a world away supporting the gulls, what a picture story day you folk put together for the lad, I salute you all and can say without fear of contridiction that this club still has the best warm hearted fans in the world. My heart went out to the cause and I was delighted my small assist went to help the great day for Lewis, Dave ,a hugh pat on the back for a job well done .

Apart from having a great day with you all, I also got to meet Peter Godfrey who is also a member on here and his younger brother Richard . They were my next door neighbours when I was kid growing up in Newton Abbot. You may remember Pete sent me the mascot picture I had been searching for for years. I have not seen Pete since I was about 15 years old and the last time I saw Richard was more than 20 years ago. I must say I do think I have aged the best Here is the mascot picture again and Pete it the player on the far left in the front row

Hello everyone. This is Lewis sending you all this message. I had a great time today and loved being mascot for Torquay United. Thank you for making us all so welcome, and for all your lovely gifts. I will treasure them forever. See you all again soon! I had a magic day. Thank you! Thank you! Thank you! Lewis........ I am sure I speak on behalf of all the fans on here when I say you are very welcome Lewis. I am very glad that you enjoyed your day and thanks for bringing us luck. Dave thanks you very much for arranging this, Merse says you are a star (and he is right) you made a lot of people very happy today. The photos look great - but is there one which doesn't show my bald patch off so much!

Sorry I was unable to be with you all for the carvery but it was great to put faces to names afterwards when we met in the bar... it'll be so much better reading posts and getting involved in banter knowing who people are! Dave, it was a tremendous achievement putting this all together and one i'm sure all at the club appreciated as well as all those involved today. It should be a once-a-season thing from now on... Cheers... (ps, i'll get the DVD arranged next week...)

Lewis, What a pleasure to meet you, hope you had a cracking and memorable day. I am sure it is one we will all remember for a long time. Dave, this little post is for you. Thanks for organising such a great day out. The whole day was fantastic; from meeting everyone, to the carvery, to the 3 well-deserved points. Good effort for organising such a smoothly run day Dave, a big pat on the back Chips.

Dave, VERY WELL DONE MATE. A fantastic effort to arrange it all and even more of an effort to ensure it ran so well during the day. You worked tirelessly and unselfishly and the joy you were responsible for bringing to the family is unlikely to be forgotten by them, or any of us. You should rightly feel proud of yourself tonight. In fact We had a fantastic day, just like everyone else. Good effort guys. Great to put faces to names and i could NEVER tire of listening to Jon & Barton. PS. I have a video of the presentation to him and as soon as i figure out how to get that on here i will. Any pointers would be appreciated.

It’s all been said by others – but what an inspiring and uplifting day!
THE MATCH Fantastic performance – fully deserved victory against a decent team. Everyone played well, but the real difference was Sturrock. It always fascinates me why sometimes one team can “impose itself” on a game and sometimes it can’t. We imposed ourselves for ninety minutes and the main reason for me was that when we got the ball up it stayed up. We all know what Sills can do, but Sturrock was absolutely awesome – a master class in front running. I wasn’t sure about this signing – based on forty-five minutes as a right winger forbidden to pass the halfway line at Dawlish – but I am very excited about it now. We looked a different team and I would be confident taking on anyone with Sills and Sturrock up front. I don’t care who we have to play in the play-offs – bring it on!
THE FOOD Top quality – well done Nina. I think there was some questioning of the price earlier this season. You can get a carvery cheaper – but you won’t get as good a carvery at that price. Excellent food - good value for money.
THE COMPANY I’d already made some good friends through this forum. It was great to meet so many more members. I had a chat with quite a few – sorry I didn’t get the chance to have a chat with everyone. We must all meet up again.
UNCLE DAVE What more can you say about this man? When he makes up his mind to make something happen, it WILL happen. Thanks for starting this forum, thanks for arranging the meal, thanks for sorting everything out with Lewis. You are a star, Dave.
OUR CLUB After the dark days of two years ago, I felt a real sense of pride and joy just being in and around OUR football club. I loved looking at the old photos on the walls – even if I shamefully failed to identify Kevin Lane and Johnny Martin in that 1976 team picture. The refurbished restaurant and the Gulls Nest really have the feel of a club on the up. Alex Rowe and Mark Boyce both took the trouble to come and have a chat with us – and what nice genuine blokes they are. OUR club could not possibly be in better hands.
LEWIS What a fine young man. His parents must be SO proud of him. I possibly have a tendency to be a bit of a negative so and so (although nowhere near as bad as Chelstongull), but when you see people tackling adversity with a smile it does really uplift you and make you see that positivity can bring positive results. Toddy is an inspiration to us all, Dave’s wife is too but to see such courage from someone so young brings a tear to the eye. Well done Lewis! I feel privileged to have been part of your special day.
