Unfortunately, I don't have the photographic abilities of others yet but I would like to describe my day out yesterday.
It isn't often that I get a chance to spend a Saturday with my family because of football, piano lessons, singing lessons and horse riding but this Saturday was one of those days.
Having previously been across Brecon, out west to Aberporth and down south to Porthcawl, it was time to head east.
We set out towards Bristol from the valleys. Unusual for me these days, I turned off the M4 towards the good old severn crossing. Just before the bridge we headed towards Chepstow and Tintern.
We then headed towards the very pretty Forest of Dean and passed the railway where there was a Thomas the Tank Engine Day. Having driven for quite a while admiring the scenery we ended up in Monmouth.
Monmouth is very beautiful, as are many towns the length of the Wye. we had a lovely lunch in The Punch House, only a pity I was driving otherwise I could have enjoyed a couple of pints.
We then headed along the Wye south towards the bridge. It was absolutely beautiful. Now that the twins were asleep we could turn our attentions away from "Humpty Dumpty" to Radio Devon (Humpty Numpty).
the signal was terrible but as my addiction to this club is well known, I will listen and hang on every word that I can hear.
We then pass Tintern Abbey, attractive but in need of a little attention. then we passed something that Merse would be interested in - Chepstow Racecourse
We then head for Newport, bypass Cwmbran and head for Abergavenny. The signal comes and goes but we seem to be playing well. We now drive along the newly extended "Heads of the Valleys" road (a major improvement - just what Torbay needs)
I love to get off the beaten track and so we head for Abercarn and Cwmcarn and then pass the not so scenic Ebbw Vale and the old steel works. as we continue down the valley we drive on the new Cwm bypass and start celebrating a goal, only to hear that it had been disallowed when the signal came back!
Back to Newport and it's getting late. we start to head home and are satisfied with a point won, not two lost. Arriving back home, I look forward to a bottle of red and the match reports from those brave enough to go.
If we tried to tell people what we go through every week, they just wouldn't believe us!!
