It's not actually. 'Straw man attack' refers to a debating strategy rather than the person who deploys it. I suggest you lighten up a bit. These early morning rants - as amusing as they are to read - can't be good for your blood pressure. I was once told by a policeman, "we never fight with gypsies or lunatics.....................they never know when they are beaten and just keep coming back for more"Perhaps we should leave him alone to struggle with his straightjacket ~ perhaps that's thre trigger for the early morning madness anyway! I once met a bloke from London who was so far up his own backside he nearly dissapeared, sometimes I wish he would! Yet again with the insults and the labeling of people `eh hypocrite!

Once upon a time someone had a right go at DaveR for stating his concern about Gypsies and the situation that arose due to them moving in to a field close by, now this same person is basically calling them lunatics( the gypsies that is )! Can`t believe the extent of the hypocracy that spu`s forth sometimes!

Try re-writing the sentence and changing 'gypsies and lunatics for Englishmen and Australians. I'm not claiming that Englishmen are Australians am I? The pair of you should bloody grow up - it's getting very very boring for those who don't want to read it!

I see they have moved in on the common on Bascombe Road. Are they supporting the nearby campaign RAGS (residents against golf club sell off) or rich nimbys

The pair of you should bloody grow up - it's getting very very boring for those who don't want to read it! Excuse me...................I've made five posts on this tragic subject and the first four of them were precisely on the subject, presented in a subjective manner; and made thoughtfully with all sincerity. The fifth one, was made in response to some demented attacks on all and sundry from someone using abuse, showing paranoia and downright silliness. Check the thread and see if I am wrong!

Many threads end up like this one, going off topic due to a small minority of members who get the hump (sorry if i have offended any camels) when the opportunity to play the discrimination card arises.

Many threads end up like this one, going off topic due to a small minority of members who get the hump (sorry if i have offended any camels) when the opportunity to play the discrimination card arises. I really get very disappointed when such a great forum as this one gets derailed and turned into something it was never set up to be, In fact I get very upset about it as I work hard to provide a place where people should be able to debate as adults and not end up squabbling like little children. I'm not here to take sides, I have read this thread from the beginning and all I'm going to say is no insults were aimed at Aussie and its clear he did not like the fact merse did not agree with his view point. I'm sorry but if you post your views on a forum there is no written rule others have to agree with you and if they don't then you have the opportunity to put your case forward again. I did just that myself last night with merse, I was not rude, I did not call him any names I just gave my reasons why I felt he should not have made the comments he did. To answer keyberrys question, should anyone have the piss taken out of them? not really but a bit of leg pulling etc has to be OK surely?, why do some have to take things so seriously? If you don't like any other member on here then don't enter into a debate with them, it really is that simple as there are plenty of others you can still debate with. I have always made it clear what this forum is about and the quality posts and great content it was set up for, it was not set up for members to continually get over personal with each other and be constantly at war. For the good of this forum so that the real enjoyment all the TFF members normally get reading this forum is maintained, I kindly ask an end is brought to this, I will have no problems using a built in system I have never used before that will disable an account for X number of days If I'm forced to. Please don't put Rob or I in a situation where we will have to start using moderating powers on the forum, it is nothing we want to do or feel we really should have any need to do when we are after all an adult forum. Lets start acting that way a bit more and then we won't have these silly problems. Many thanks Dave
