Well another week over and we are all just that bit older and I sure feel a bit older today than I did last Friday for sure ;D. I was so frilled to get on the bus last Saturday at 6pm and read such wonderful posts that had been made while I had been watching that powerboat racing. Little did I know when I got home and made my post about the powerboat racing that I would upset some of the powerboat racers and that was never my intension.
I just felt it was a shame that the very people who should be doing all they can for powerboat racing here in the UK, were making it so hard for the people who give so much to it and who without there would be no powerboat racing at all. I will go along in August and talk to Dave who aired his view very polity on the subject and I do apologise if my post caused any offence to such dedicated sports persons.
I also enjoyed Monday evening on the forum and it’s so good we can share such things as day’s outs, or great shots taken in London together when there is so little to talk about as far as football is concerned.
As always I will be honest and say I was a bit disappointed when we did have some good TUFC news to take about, the threads did not enjoy the amount of posts I would have expected. Still not to worry and I’m sure it’s only because you are working on some great post that will blow us all away, well I can but hope.
There was an issue with a code I discovered early this morning that was causing a small loading issue and I had to put the last posts down to 15 only. Later in the morning it became necessary to stop guest viewing for a while and I was able to do this on my mobile phone until I could get to a PC to sort the code out, it would have been almost imposable to sort it out using the phone.
On another note does anyone know if Merse is OK? He talked in the week about being in pain and he has not been on the forum today and that is very unusual. If you do know then please can you let us know.
So onto this week’s winner and it’s always good to get someone who is a first time winner as was the case last week. He is a young man but proudly wears his heart on his sleeve where Torquay United are concerned and has treated us to some great firsts posts on the TFF and long may that continue.
This week’s winner is Pappy very well done Pappy

Torquay United, 2010/11 league 2 champions? Play-Off winners? Mid-table team? Relegation team? I wonder what our form at the end of last season suggests; one of the first two would come into our minds and yes why not. I mean what was it 8 games unbeaten, won 6 (drawn 2) and setting a club record of of 691 mins without conceding a goal. That certainly suggests a promotion teams form doesn`t it?
Next season will see us settle back more into Football League kind of things. We have a consortium who saved us from oblivion but have the best interests of the club at heart, they wear thier hearts on thier sleeves and a lot that goes un-noticed. They have done so much and a lot of things go missed by supporters of gthe club. How many chairman of football league clubs would answer questions set by a whole forum full of members? What chairman would stand on the popular side where a good amount of abuse comes from? What kind of consortium members whould sit on the grandstand and have to put up with people who only speak and stand up when a goal is concded or a penalty missed or a game lost?
I tell you Torquay United can do so much next season. We not only have a consortium who would do anything in thier power to help this club in any way possible, we also have a management team and a set of players who are more than capaple of fighting for a place in league 1. Scott Bevan and Danny Potter, both goalkeepers of great ability yet already agreeing to play for us next season. Remember when we could only manage to sign players when pre-season had already started, players who were probably going to end up playing only part-time within in a matter of months (probably being paid peanuts).
We have players ready to make the step up, who is going to want to not only take on Mr. Guy Branston (If he stays) and if that players come out of Guy`s tackle alive I do wonder what will go through his mind when he see`s the twenty foot high, big muscley Scott Bevan or Danny Potter. Lee Mansell the non-stop talking, ever passionate, no holds barred midfielder. A player who could tackle, win the ball and set up an attack in 1 or 2 moves. Wayne Carlisle, a player who can defend and attack and switch between the two almost flawlessly. Remember him in last seasons play-off final: A few seconds before Tim Sills` goal he was defending against Scott rendell and the next he was providing the cross that met Tim Sills` head. Whats a midfielder doing here at Torquay United? What are these kind of players doing here? We have players who on there day, with the support of the mighty yellow army, the popside choir, the singing supporters behind them, the grandstand people clapping and the young ones in the familystand screaming the team on, the team could do anything, beat anyone.
We beat Rochdale 5-0, remember how we played. Remember Oxford United away in our first game in the Blue Sqaure Premier League, we were 3-0 down at half-time and pulled it abck to 3-3 almost winning. We have such a bright future and not many people see it, but if we belieave in it we can do things. Our corsortium who are in charge do so much, we have a sunday carvery that is just delicious and is very popular even with people who have little interest in football or Torquay United. Torquay United have Boots & Laces back under thier wing. I have been in boots & Laces on matchdays and it is so crowded and busy, I can hardly move sometime with the amount of people trying to by drinks and food. We have so much going for us yet sometimes we have people stuck telling the negativity like Mustapha Carayol going to Lincoln, well we have Wayne Carlise, we have Chris Zebroski, Eunan O`Kane, Danny Stevens who can be just as good and overall are better players. Colin Lee leaving is a negative but that can be countered by the fact that the consortium are going to get more hands on, Mr. Colin Lee also said he bears no grudges against anyone at the club, he wants the best for him and bears no malice.
We are a club that needs everyone behind it, no matter if you are going for your first game on the grandstand or a popular side regular, on our day we can get Plainmoor rocking. I want everyone who lives in Torquay to hear us sing as though they are there themselves. We have a reserve team re-introduced, what a benefit it will be to our club. We are able to bring the best of the youth team up a level and nuture them even more and be able to give injured or suspended players a chance to get back into the team. We have two buisnesses willing to meet the costs of our freserve team; they must be some realy good supporters, not only being able to pay our reserve team costs but also not wanting to take any glory themselves. We can all play apart cant we, I can play my part by supporting them no matter what, and by talking about how Torquay United are doing to my mates and try to get them to come, if I can get one more person to come along and increase our attendance than I will. If I have some money and am able to get something from the club shop than I will. I was in Manchester a couple of weeks ago and I saw an FC United fan (FC United of Manchester being the Manchester United rebel club) and he wanted to ask me how Torquay United were doing, he mentioned how he had seen them play on tv agasint Yeovil and mentioned how we played and our support. He also saw a video of our support agasint Aldershot away and was in awe of our support and said how great it is to see a league 2 team have such great away support.
Next season Paul Buckle will have a team made up of players who are willing to do anything to win the game, not only win the game, but win the game with style. Win games while putting on a show for us. Benyon is not much onlder than the popular side singers and yet was our top scorer. We have a youth team who recently produced two more trainees in the past f=few days. Ashley Yeoman and Ed Palmer and yet we weren`t expecting anyone to graduate from our youth team for another 2 years. We have passsed many expectations from other fans and fdrom ourselves and yet you hear no one taking any credit for this from the board. How many of the consortium likes to be in the limelight and take some glory for wwhat they done? I cant think of any as they are so busy and passionate about the club, they don`t care about taking the glory and I really appreciate. I am more than happy with who is in charge of Torquay United. I am so looking forward to next season, the excitement of seeing football back at Plainmoor, seeing football grace the green lush pitch and seeing our magnificent support cheer and roar as each pass is completed, with every cross delivered and everytime our players come onto the pitch. When those Torquay United players cross that white line onto the pitch, we see a different side to them and to ourselves. They seem focused, determind on thier game, on what they are going to do and we see ourselves cross our fingers, shout "Come on Torquay", "United" and start chanting yellow army sends a chill down my back with pride and a buzz; it makes the hair on the back of my neck stand up.
