A few years after this game Mr Lidstone ( director) became a customer on my milk round and I used to enjoy many chats with him about the club. I do seem to remember him telling me he had to give his shares away to help get the club back from foremost securities that Dave Webb was connected too.

Interesting to see that in the first month of this season gates across the country were down by a staggering 200.000, would there be any reason for that? yet we were bucking the trend and in our first three games had almost 21.000 through the gates, 3000 up on the same period for the season before.

This games attendance was 8885 and we can't get that many in these days even if we were able to attract that many, it does seem sad we no longer enjoy the support we once did and I don't think we will see gates this size ever again for a league match.
