Very interesting reading in this programme that I’m sure Jon will want to comment on, re the £30.000 over draft that seems to have cause embarrassment to the club and the fact that half the assets were offered to the them council to help reduce the burden of the over draft.
I guess it never happened as I have never heard that the Council own half of our clubs assets, but it does show it has always been a hard struggle keeping our clubs head above the water line.

I wouldn't be at all surprised if it did happen, Dave. "Selling" fixtures and fittings to the Council in exchange for increased rent has always been a way for the club to dig itself out of a cash crisis - it had happened before and it has happened since. Cash crises have been a recurrent theme throughout our club's history - even during what are percieved as the relatively stable times of the 1950s and 1960s. This kind of deal sees the Council bail the club out without giving anything away as it gets a "return" on its "investment" by way of higher rent.

While you may not be surprised Jon, is there any evidence the council ever did do it? It would mean if they had of done they own a percentage of the clubs assets and unless any owner ever bought them back, then the council still must own them and that you would have thought would show up somewhere in the clubs accounts or some other documents.
What is good to see is the club learn of fans fears and come out and fully explain the exact position and why they are trying to do what they are trying to do. By doing so the fans get to know and understand what is going on and it would have stopped silly rumours being spread such as the club were in big financial trouble and in danger of folding.
Its what many fans feel is missing these days from the club and while there are some things that should not be put out in the public domain, there are plenty of other things the fans should be made a ware of. Good communication between clubs and their fans are in my view very important and can only help to bond fans closer the club they support.

I see the Watneys Red Barrel advert is real then, I thought it was just a Monty Python gag! Can`t see any dead parrot ads though!
