The first question has to be will the game go ahead? We have had plenty of rain here in Devon and while I would expect our pitch to be perfectly playable, that may not be the case with the Stockport pitch.
After getting a good beating on Saturday, our team will be looking to put that game behind them and bounce back with a good performance and hopefully a win. We seem to have improved on the goal scoring front, but we are not defending as well as we should be. The suggestions being our players are a bit to slow to react to any danger in our box.
It the Cheltenham game both Zebs and Rendell did well in our box defending set plays and corners, Rendell got his head onto many balls played into our box and got them clear, but its from open play we seem to have the problem.
Bevan back in goal and a test for him to see how he is progressing, with the possibly of losing Poke in the new year, Bucks will have to decide if Bevan can resume his place back in goal for us then, or if he needs to look for another keeper. It is possible I suppose that we could turn Pokes loan into permanent deal, but that would require a fee I’m sure.
One good reason then to try and win this game, with the Herald Express reporting Simon Baker is looking to add to the boardroom as he tries to bring some new investment into the club, a win and the chance of getting a plum draw in the next round, can help the club as it looks to bring in new players.
The game is not going to be played on the wonderful surface that we have at Plainmoor, despite the very bad weather during the Cheltenham game, our pitch stood up to the test and the team were able to still play good football on it.
It may well just be a slog and our players will once again need to win the physical battles before they can try and get the ball down and play their football, we have pace where we need it and players who know where the net is.
Because of Saturdays result, I feel our players will get the required result and we will then be in the hat for the next round, I think there maybe just the one goal in the match and Sills will be the one who gets it
