Lots of stuff of interest in there. A Jugo-Slavian signing no less. A past-his-best ex-Celtic star asking for daft wages? Wouldn't happen nowadays, would it? Dave Mercer, another who started his first-team career with us in 1939 although the record books say 1946, a golf pro and part-time football pro - he hadn't played in the first team for over a year and never would again. Top Southern League sides bagging top League players without paying for them - but our brave boys holding them to a 5-5 draw. TUFC having "quite as much play as their opponents" but "lapsed badly" due to defensive errors. Plus ça change.

Intrigued by the Jugoslav signing, I suspect he might have been a "displaced person" in the aftermath of WW2. Not sure about the representative RAP teams in Italy - something military or part of the post-war resettlement programme? Kosandvich doesn't sound like a name from the Balkans - Kosanovic, perhaps? It would be interesting to know what happened to him.

By chance I was reading my copy of this programme this morning and couldn't recall if Tim had popped one on here.
Interesting point was how 'Follis' made a big thing about United not having had a drawn game all season, and neither had opponents Norwich. So it seems inevitable it ended a 1-1 draw really.
