I must confess I hate NCP, not that they have ever giving me a ticket, because I won't take my car into any on the Bay towns.I see that they have gone £75.000 over their target of £650.000 in parking fines in the Bay for the year.
Most caught, proberly after only staying 5mins over their time, Of falling foul to poor signs, that even I have found hard to understand the restrictions on them. We all know how they go to the seafront at 4pm, catching out all those that did not understand its a clearway between 4pm and 6pm.
What has now got me really made, is what is happening in Torwood Street in Torquay. Holiday makers and even locals parking there after 8pm, unaware that from 8pm until 6am, you can only park for one hour.
One sign is covered by a hanging basket, so no one can even see it, so that just leaves one sign. Please tell me who would start looking and checking such signs after 8pm, who would expect restrictions to start at this time of night.
Its just a big cash machine, a big rip off of many holiday makers, who have parked there to spend money in some local restaurant.
Don't worry 92ndfish about Torbay only caring for the holiday trade, because it will be gone soon enough, far too many holiday makers are leaving Torbay with a very bad taste in their mouths.
I had a run in with NCP in their car park at crossway's, I got back to my car with 5mins to spare, only to get held up on the exit ramp, as they had some guy at the pay booth getting shirty.By the time I got to pay, they told me I was 3mins over and had to pay for another hour.
I refused and just sat in my car, they said they were calling the police, so I said fine do so. After 20 mins they gave up and opened the barrier, but I have never used it again. These guys are on our streets until 10pm every night seven days a week, it never was or ever will be about congestion, just money, money money.
