I will be standing silent ( this may please many people ) tommorow morning at 11:00 am for a minutes silence to pay respect to my fellow Aussie and Kiwi heros just like I do on Rememberance Sunday. Here is a little info for anyone remotely interested in what Anzac Day means to me! www.awm.gov.au/commemoration/anzac/anzac_tradition.asp

I too will be honouring them Oz. There are many Ozzies out here and it's atken very seriously. You only have to walk around the war cemetary at Kanchanaburi (Bridge over the river Kwai) to be thoroughly humbled. We will remember them.

I have in the past read a couple of books about Gallipoli but had forgotten much of the detail (I have got to the age now where in order to absorb new information into my memory I have to forget something I already knew!). It is a poignant thought that it is less than 100 years since the start of the FWW (not a massive length of time on the scale of things), followed only 20 years later by the SWW ... two generations of young men of many Nations sacrificed due to politics. I often reflect on this waste of young lives (including those since the World Wars up to the present day) as a result of war and terrorism when I am feeling down about a football defeat or our position in the table. It puts it all into perspective.
