This was the fourth and fifth time we had played Posh in the FA Cup. The previous three when they were a non league club, they beat us 2-1 in 52/53 and we had narrow 1-0 wins in 48/49 and 57/58(after a 3-3 draw at their place). 60/61 was their first season in the football league and were riding high on the way to promotion. We were also doing well at the time and were probably expected to win. Result:1-3(Court). Attendance: 9304. 61/62 was probably predictable,we were on our way to relegation and Posh finished a very respectable fifth. Result: 1-4(Bond). Attendance: 8365.

Peterborough's reputation as a progressive club in those days was such that the attendance at both those games was well above average, in fact in the second game it was more than double.
Peterborough completely dominated both games and the final scores flattered Torquay. At the time, it struck me as unreal that a team recently promoted from non-League football could be so well-drilled, despite their reputation as FA Cup giantkillers.
Their wingers absolutely tore us apart in both games and laid on four goals in all for that marvellous striker Terry Bly.
