I've got the Spurs one thanks to my Dad's Police work colleague who gave me loads of programmes. Had a great reunion after at least 20 years quite by chance he was standing in front of me at Newport for the FA Trophy game. the wife is going to dig them all out of the attic for me to post some of them. they include Man Utd 4-2!! I've found the Grasshoppers v Trojans but scanner not working

This is all way before my time of being a Torquay fan but, I am loving reading those old programs. What about the memories of people at the games...I am sure there must be some.

Are you on here yet, Sam? If not, someone will have to go and fetch him. I think he has the biggest TUFC programme collection in the World. And his story of what he got up to after the 1972 Man U friendly is good for a laugh! I wonder if Merse knows Bendy Wendy?

Community singing led by Councillor Bert Lidstone............I bet it was! The "John Bartlett" of the boardroom when he became a director -he owned some arcades down near the Pavilion - camel haired over coated, jag driving, cigar smoking, whiskey drinking old 'character' They don't make 'em like Bert any longer (well Lew Pope excepted) !

hard to belive its over forty years since i was crushed into the back of the cowshead watching that spurs game, seems like yesterday, the magic of "Robin" that afternoon is still like a slow motion movie in my mind. Made the ill fated train trip back to the "smoke" that foggy night when the match was posponed, still think with the players on a high we could have taken them that night. One odd thing I notice from the photos though, how come us had to pay a bob for the home program but them rich folks at white Hart Lane only forked out a "thupenny bit for theirs ?

Just picked up this thread and remember my late father going to both Totenham fixtures, he was also a big Spurs fan as they were one of "THE" top teams of that era. It must have been a real squeeze with 21,000 odd in our little ground. I also seem to remember the replay was postponed and the replay played on a week day afternoon, though I may be wrong on that one. As I would have only been 9 at the time I missed all the live excitement but witnessed my dads after match exuberance which brought me a step closer to my lifelong commitment. I soon became hooked and rarely missed a match with the following few seasons being quite exceptional. The 72 pre season friendly with Man utd was a disaster for me. In the ground early, looking so cool in my brand new "Budgie Jacket" I quickly made my way towards the back of the Mini Stand. The ground was packed with many a native Mancunian in all parts including the mini - there was no such thing as segregation back then and odd pockets off trouble began to kick off particularly around where I was standing. Helmeted police were mixed in amongst us with one immediately behind me and with all of the pre match excitement and all that testosterone something was bound to happen. A huge hairy drunken Man U supporter, with a few mates had infiltrated our sacred area at the forefront and with that a section of supporters behind me surged forward knocking over a few in front of me. With this lad on the ground and being trampled on I crouched down to help him to his feet. Plod behind obviously thought I was the culprit and before I knew what had happened was being whisked off to the police van outside the ground with my arm behind my back. The next hour and a half was agony not only did I miss the match but ten minutes after KO plod dragged in the very smelly drunken and hairy fat Bastard that had started the whole series of events! Spurs in the cup seemed to be a regular fixture in the following decades and I remember Bruce Stucky opening the scoring at the mini stand end in another encounter that saw us ultimately succumb to some Martin Chivers / Alan Gilzean magic. Trouble that night when I witnessed Colin Lee's bro Francis fighting like a savage when the police, truncheons drawn, were trying to evict him from the ground. Then of course the famous Derek Dawkins winner in the League cup and more recently a brave mid week effort at White Heart Lane only a few seasons ago. Yes plenty of history with the mighty Spurs.
