Some time ago I purchaced a bulk load of programmes off somebody on ebay. I never properly sorted them out except for the TUFC home programmes. For some reason I decided to sort out the rest on New Years Day and came across this one, which I am sure will create a lot of interest. The Torre Trojans teams includes a player we all now well. I`m sure some of you will recognize others. Does anybody now the score, attendance etc. A tester Jon or Barton. I was at that game as my cousin Kevin Birch was in the Torre Trojans side (his father Larry has featured in several previous programmes on the Forum in the Torquay United A team). Kevin was an excellent skilful player but was just far too small to be a professional, unlike the bloke sitting next to him in the team photo! There was a very good attendance as there normally is for local youth finals. I can't remember the score but I am fairly certain that Kingsteignton won (although if wrong please allow for the nearly 40 years gap!) It's strange but I can clearly remember 'Congratulations' by Cliff Richard playing on the tannoy as I left the ground but cannot remember the score!! In the Kingsteignton team Chris Bresland is one of the Newton Abbot Bastow's and I think he is still involved with Newton Abbot Spurs today. Jeremy Sharland I assume is related to Kingsteignton Athletic first team striker from around the same period Jeff Sharland. The only thing I hate about this Forum is people stirring memories which just do not come back intact!!!

Interesting to remember that the Pioneer League Cup was actually the Torquay United ex-Professionals Cup.
This ties in with what I was saying on the Cec Smyth thread about the ex-pros team being quite active in fundraising.
Another thread talks about players not wanting to give up playing as long as they enjoy the game.
Something for Deano to chew over maybe?

A year behind me at school, Kev was in the same year group as Chris Penford and Jimmy Parker. Did he become a teacher around Cullompton way?

Good old Pete Foxon as the Referee, he still Ref's to this day in his beloved shades. He reffed a game I was playing in a few years ago in the snow & he still continued to wear the shades. Priceless

He was teaching in Exeter and then moved further west to either Cullompton or Tiverton. Good footballing family, his brother Gary was very good as well. After Torre Trojans they were playing for one of the local Torquay reams I think Waldon Athletic. Are Waldon still about?

Know and worked with many of the Kings side and played with some also in different teams in that era.
Has nobody noticed a certain Colin Lee in the Trojans side. One and the same I believe.
