I think this is the programme that Timbo said he was missing - vs Southampton on Good Friday, 1957. As a bonus I include the return leg programme on Easter Monday. I remember nothing of the home leg (we won 2-0) but I do remember Easter Monday - (1) the first time I had seen a "Lord Nelson" class steam engine - they didn't get as far as Exeter Central (OK - I'm a geek!) (2) that we lost the match at The Dell by a penalty - as I remember it a brilliant tip around the post by Harry Smith - unfortunately he was a fullback not a goalkeeper, and the penalty was converted by Southampton (3) several rousing choruses of "Hound Dog" on the return train trip - a recent Elvis release!
Had the penalty been saved we would have made the second division that year........ah well.............if only.................
I didn't attend many away matches - but my programmes tell me I did get to Home Park and St James Park for the local derbies - both drawn, which is maybe why I remember nothing of those matches
