07/10/78: Crewe (A)

I was at that 6-2 defeat having made the same journey over from Nottingham that Jon was to undertake a few years later.

My main memory is of a surprisingly large number of drunks who had made the journey from South Devon thanks to a cheap deal on the railways (presumably arranged with spotters in mind). One of those present was a very occasional supporter who I knew from primary and secondary school. I hadn't seen him since school and I've not seen him again. Perhaps he's still in Crewe?

My last visit to Gresty Road was in the mid 1980s when I bumped into an extremely pleasant character called Kim Marshall who played in various TBGS teams of the late 1960s and early 1970s.
