Whilst I don't hold with giving out moronic abuse I have ot disagree with your assessment of Carlisle. For me a total waste of space has not impressed me at all so far this season...but then it is all about opinions!

what does wayne carlisle have to do FFS before they will get of his back Go back in time and not be a former Exeter City player. There have been loads of players move between the two clubs and it's this loony fringe who regard the Devon rivalry as some "Little Boys Old Firm" hatred who are undermining the confidence of decent people. I saw Buckle described as that "City so and so" yesterday on another Gulls' site that is lead by someone with over two thousand posts on the Exeter City site, and to my way of thinking such unhealthy obsession with your neighbours undermines the efforts at home. For goodness sake, Exeter City don't mean naff all to all but the locally born players, don't mean naff all to the fans who live away from the area and don't mean naff all to us this season as they're playing in a different league!

I saw the Ebbsfleet game and thought Carlisle was very poor but I thought he had a good game last night. He got 5 or 6 decent balls into the box, one of which created a goal. He also did work hard last night and gets up and down the right with alot more mobility than Carayol does on the left.

I also thought that Carlisle played much better last night! Don't forget that he also scored the very good winner against Woking. ( Missed the Ebbsfleet game.)

I made a post before where I stated that when he played for Exeter, I disliked him, only because he played for them, I also said that it was a love hate thing, because I felt he was a good player.
I went on to say about how I found it strange that now he would be wearing a TUFC shirt, I would now love him, because he was one of our players.
It does not matter who he played for before, why should it, He is now our player and playing for our club, fans need to get of the backs of our own players and that includes those who go on and on about players such as Woods.
He has shown what he can do, give him some time to settle into the team and come the end of the season, you may just be singing his praise.

For me a total waste of space has not impressed me at all so far this season...but then it is all about opinions! I agree it is also about opinions, but what about where you watch the game from?? I was in the 'pop side' for the York game and thought that Carlisle was very ordinary. I was a little disappointed in his performance and didn't realise that it was from his cross that the goal eventually came from. Whilst recuperating today i have re-watched the York game that i taped from Setanta (something i have never done before and an interesting experience). I have to admit that i found the game very different to what i recall from watching it live at the ground. I felt that Carlisle actually had a half decent game, rarely losing the ball, mostly playing the way he was facing, took players on and at one point ran all the way across the pitch to track back. His cross for the goal was delightful. One thing the setanta did not show was how one dimensional Dsane was/is. There were plenty of occasions when Carlisle & Hodges were looking to play it down the line, yet instead of making diagonal runs across the defenders to go out wide to find the space, he ploughs through the middle channel, very rarely providing any width. This tended to encourage the hoof ball over the top. Another thing i didn't see on the re-run that was VERY evident on the night, is just how LAZY Green was/is. Defending starts with your own forwards attacking/closing down the opponents defenders when they try and play the ball out. Sills does this to a certain extent, as do Benyon and Dsane, Green does not. There was one example of this on Thursday when a defender virtually walked past Green who didn't bother to close him down at all. Merse made a very good point earlier about Hodges conserving his energy when tracking back, by ensuring someone covers him, that is not lazy, Green on the other hand WAS lazy, there is absolutely no excuse why any of the forwards should not close down the defenders, much less one who has only been on for 5 minutes and only has 15 minutes to run his arse into the ground. He should take a leaf out of Phillips book, who used to chase lost causes almost to the detriment of him being able to complete 90 minutes. Also with the hindsight of watching their goal 15 odd times on replay, slow mo etc, it is possible to blame just about ALL of the team at some stage, from losing the ball, to not closing down, to being ineptly out of position, to ball watching, however at the end of the day it was an opportunist goal, superbly taken and if he tried it 99 more times he would be lucky to keep it in the ground, let alone score. Thats just the way our luck is running at the moment. What we would give to get an early goal, even a first half goal would be nice. Then a couple of clean sheets. The prodigal son has not achieved that yet.

Great post tufc01 and one that Merse will have some points to make on, If only about where you watch the game from. I do not know If you saw the thread, "Histon contact the forum"
If you have seen it you may not fully understand It, but over the years I had many run ins with Merse, who felt his posts on the game had to be correct, as he only watched the game from high seats and those had a better view of what was going on, all over the pitch.

I will read that post, to see what i make of it. I get the impression that you and Merse are like kid brothers, both believing they are right, but also saying that black is white if the other 'brother' says it is black. Its great to read the posts between the two of you. They usually start out as very good points, but then become more amusing as you both argue that your point is right. You are not related are you?? If not perhaps you should adopt each other, because there is obviously great mutual respect between you.
