A few observations from me.
Terry Lee's first leg penalty save is mentioned - the one that nearly earned me a beating.
Frank O'Farrell's role at the club is referred to as the "special position of consultant manager". In the 90s, the concept of a director of football and a first team coach was seen as very modern and very continental. Tony Boyce really was ahead of his time with O'Farrell / Green and then O'Farrell / Rioch. I remember Bartondowns put up a great article in which Boyce stressed the importance of a good management setup.
I note that we only had fourteen players - and were soon to sell Colin Lee to go down to thirteen. I remember well that we went five games fielding the same eleven - not out of choice but because Darke and Rudge were injured so we only had eleven players! We put schoolboy Maurice Cox on the bench for home games and used Upton Athletic's right back Ian Sanderson for away games. I wasn't quite sure if that was to give us a more defensive option away from home or because Maurice was too busy doing his homework to spare the time to travel.

I note that we only had fourteen players... Interesting to see that one of the two players left out - Tomlin missed the start of the season through injury - was Ian Twitchin. I remember that Dave Thomas wrote in Twitch's Testimonial programme that he would always start the season left out as the "better" new players came in, but never took long to win back his place and keep it. Twitch missed the first two ties with Cardiff, but played 46 League games, the Cardiff replay defeat and our only FA Cup game.

Albert Larmour - from that Cardiff team - went on to play for us several seasons later.
Ian Sanderson actually came on as sub on one occasion that season - at Aldershot. He'd grown a little since I'd known him at primary school!
Does anyone else have a memory of a Herald Express photograph of Cardiff supporters being corralled by the police on to the slipway opposite the Palm Court at high tide? Not sure if that was the 1977 first leg or a few years afterwards?
