Question & Answer Session – Saturday 14 February
We held a Question & Answer Session open to the Junior TUST Members after the match on Saturday. After a brilliant 3-1 victory everybody was in high spirits!!
Scott Bevan & Steve Woods gave up some time to come and answer the childrens questions, Chris Hargreaves also popped in to say a quick ‘hello’ to us all.
The Junior TUST is now running a Player of the Month Award for all of its Junior Members to vote each month for who they believe to be the player who has performed the best. December’s winner was Scott Bevan so before we started the Q&A Daniel Goodman (Junior TUST Member) presented Scott with his award and certificate in behalf of the Junior TUST Members, Scott was thrilled and honoured to be voted as the winner and proudly wore his medal and thanked all the Juniors who had voted for him.
Now on to the Q&A, below are some examples of the questions asked:
One of the first questions asked before Chris Hargreaves left was - how old are you? Scott said he was 28, Steve is 32 but Chris said he was 25 and not a day older which was met with alot of laughing and on that note Chris did a ‘high five’ with the all the kids and left us to get on with it!!
Scott and Steve were then asked what size feet did they have, Steve has a modest size 8 but Scott feet are size 11 so he and Steve measured their trainer sizes against each other then Scott asked Ben Walton to try on one his trainers as he also has size11 (the child size obviously)!! They all thought this was hillarious as Ben took off his trainer and put Scotts on!!
Scott and Steve were asked who their favourite teams other than Torquay were, Scott’s is Southampton and Steve’s is Everton, they were also asked what they would like to when they retire from playing football, Scott would like to go to college and Steve would like to be a teacher.
Another question asked was would Scott like to take a penalty or score a goal for Torquay, he said he would really like the chance to be able to take a penalty before the end of the season if Torquay were secure in the game they were playing e.g 2 or 3 nil up and near the end of the game, he would love the chance to have a go, but admitted he does not practice penalty taking in training!!
Scott was also asked for advice on how to become a good goalie; he replied that you need to work very hard all the time, practice alot of foot skills with cones etc and to keep very fit.
They were both asked how many keepie uppies they could do, Steve wasn’t too sure and Scott said only 1 or 2 because of the size of his feet!!!!
We all had a fun time with lots of laughter and we would like to thank Chris, Scott and Steve for giving up their time to do this for the children.
We will be having more Q&A sessions so if you would like your child to be involved in taking part all you need to do is join your children up to the TUST for a nominal cost of £5.00 per year and they will then be able to join in things like this and other events that we are planning for the future.
