Are any members planning on attending the Trust's AGM after the Cambridge game?
If so, it might be a good chance to put a few faces to names. I'll be there with Chelstongull (the Charlie Fairhead lookalike). If you see us, come over and say hello.
Sorry to see that Rob, one of our founding fathers, cannot make it due to work commitments.

I`ll be there.
I`ll be easy to spot. Look for the person at the food table.
The Supporters Trust has done an excellent job with the club: There currently looking at ways to improve disabled access for disabled supporters. They reduced prices for supporters travelling to Sindon a couple of years ago, they provided new commentery equipment for blind and impartially sighted supporters and this meeting will be a great opportunity for members and the board to air thier views and opinions.

Please accept my apologies. Hope as many attend as possible.
If there is a proposal to assist the youth programme I am one member who is very pro that idea, though I have no doubt that the TUST Board will have highlighted worthy causes for its membership to consider in the round. Keep up the good work all those involved.

Keep up the good work all those involved. I will ask the question. The Trust has contributed to various bits and pieces for the youth programme, but I think that finances would not be strong enough for TUST to be the main sponsor or to provide a significant proportion of funding. I think that the ground improvements to help access for wheelchair-bound supporters will be quite costly, so other projects will need to be less financially demanding - at least in the short-term. Of course, I would love it if the Trust could get to a level of income where we could fund the youth scheme - maybe we'll get there one day!

. Look for the person at the food table. Is food being provided at the TUST meeting? I wouldn't want it to get in the way of the beer and curry Jon and I will be having later?

Though I'd bump this up as another reminder.
TUST AGM 5.30 today in Boots & Laces.
Thinking back two years to the formative stages of TUST, I can't believe how far the Trust has moved forward and how far the club has moved forward. How lucky we are!
I've just checked out the Terras Forum for news on Weymouth and it brings back awful memeries of where we were and where we could have been. Two things caught my eye.
Firstly, the Supporters' Club has had to pay for the team coach to Ebbsfleet because the Chairman has cancelled all payments out.
Secondly, someone is calling out for fans NOT to boycott games as they are not damaging the Chairman but increasing the black hole and reducing the chances of a friendly takeover.
All sounds horribly familiar and I'm so glad that our Trust is able to concentrate on positive matters that further the cause of TUFC and put OUR club at the heart of the community, and not be involved in a bitter life or death struggle.
The only slight down side to our good fortune is that quite a few TUST members have not got around to renewing because they don't feel the urgency any more.
Please badger your friends into renewing. There is so much we fans can do to help keep our club moving in the right directon.
Onwards and upwards. Come on you Yellows. Hope to meet some of you at the AGM.

A few points from the Trust meeting : A lady called Louise, Rivieralou on here I believe, has joined the Trust Board and is dedicated to promoting a club for junior Trust members. She missed the first half of the AGM because she was with a group of junior members who got to meet Colin Lee and some players after the game. The club is very enthusiastic about working with the Trust to get a “Junior Gulls” section active. To me this is fantastic – just what the Trust should be doing and great to see the club willing to work together with the Trust on this. We all know that hooking the youngsters at an impressionable age is the way to ensure our club’s future. The Trust has been hard at work on enhancing facilities for wheelchair-bound fans. Work will soon begin on some ramps and raised wheelchair bays in the Family Stand – the process in doing this properly has been tortuous! A lot of work has already been done, and don’t forget the equipment for visually-impaired supporters, but it will be great to see this work underway – a visible, tangible sign of what the Trust can do. Rob asked me to raise the question of funding Youth Development, but I did not need to as it was raised by another Trust member. As I suspected, the Trust’s finances would not currently stretch to being a main sponsor or funding provider. The Trust was “associate sponsor” for the Cambridge game and asked specifically that the £500 paid be ring-fenced to go to Youth Development. Other practical ways of helping were being explored such as supplying referees or transport. I think it was when this was being discussed that it was stressed that the Trust will fund specific projects/ items but will always be independent and not just be a “cash cow” for the club. At this point, Alex Rowe just happened to pop his head in and had a little light-hearted banter about that. I remember that when I first met Alex he said that he was quite happy for the Trust to be an independent “critical friend”. He again repeated his appreciation of the Trust’s efforts and stressed the Board’s commitment to the club. He mentioned again how Paul Buckle had pledged to bring in not just good players but good people and that he had tremendous pride in the players as a group – saying that they were a credit to the club. He offered to do a brief Q&A and our very own Jamie asked the very pertinent question of whether reduced crowds would lead to cuts which would derail the season. Alex said, to everyone’s relief, that funds for this season were in place regardless. He said that he could understand that the start of the season had been uninspiring and understood that December was a tough month for people’s finances. He noted that crowds had picked up a little and hoped that they would be up around 2,500 after Xmas. I couldn’t help but think that Alex had an incredible talent for saying the right thing and “pushing the right buttons” and could not help but contrast to a previous Chairman’s talent for saying the wrong thing and ”pushing the wrong buttons”. I appreciate that having the financial backing that he has makes the answers more palatable, but still thought that the presentation and fan-friendliness was excellent. Two pleas. Firstly, if anyone hasn’t joined the Trust or has not renewed membership, please do. A small standing order, say £2 a month, is an excellent way of helping – saves the hassle of having to renew each year. www.torquaysupporters.com/downloads/misc/standing_order.pdfSecondly, if anyone has any spare time or energy to help the Trust, don’t be shy to volunteer – the more the merrier. For me, it was a really good evening. Great to meet Ricardo and Rivieralou. Shocking to see Stuartb’s pornstar tache from his 80s TUFC ID card, Chelston and I had a good curry – and my bus arrived before his did!

Thank you Jon for an excellent post and for promoting the TUST. I will be working very hard to get the children involved as much as possible. The Juniors had a great day, they were all invited to have a stadium tour before the game, 11 of them were mascots, and then as Jon said we had a Q&A Session after the game with Colin Lee, Chris Hargreaves and Kevin Nicholson which was brilliant, the kids were so excited and really enjoyed it, some very funny questions were asked!!!!! We also had a Christmas card competition and they did some lovely 'get well' cards for Toddy. Our next event is a Christmas Party for them on 20 December after the Histon match. If anyone has any children who would like to come to the party it costs £5.00 but free to TUST Junior Members, as it only costs £5.00 for children to join the TUST it would be beneficial for them to join and enjoy the other benefits through the year. Please PM me for details if you are interested, the closing date is Friday 12 December as spaces are limited. It was good to meet you Jon and also Chelston as well, glad you enjoyed your curry!!!
