Another week over and I knew I should not have believed all I have heard on the news about the credit crunch being over as everywhere I have been this week company owners are saying how bad this week has been and even I the great hunter Toolfix gatherer has driven 1200 fruitless miles and not found the amount of work that will make me sleep better at night.
Well who is going to want to employ a short and slightly fat 55 year old man should the worst happen, yes I know I could bring back Davybeat, but fear I would not even be able to get those speakers up on their stands, let alone carry all that gear into venues. I suppose the answer might be to become a double act, get a younger man to join me and use him as the roadie as well, now let me think who do I know who can sing? Or thinks he can sing.
Despite the position at our club I’m pleased to report that after feeling very depressed for the first few months of this year and mainly due to events that really did knock me down a bit, I have been improving day on day and while still not back to my usual cheeky self, I do feel a whole lot better.
So on to this week’s winner, we were treated once again to a great post by Bencurrie and there has been plenty of great posts to read this week and plenty of excellent debate. As always a big thank you from me to all those who take time to write and contribute posts on the forum as without them I really might have to get out my organ again and play with it after work instead of coming on here and enjoying my time with you all.
I think it was the post made after our last game that saw the return of a much missed player as far as fans are concerned that really got this week’s winner the votes, but he has also made many other quality posts as normal and is every forums owner dream come true as far as what he brings into the forum.
This week’s winner is crispygull, many thanks Chris for all your great posts this week

Just a word about Nico.
Forgive me if I might seem to be going a bit over the top here but I honestly felt that he gave a superb performance today. OK, so it was only a cameo from off the bench but in the half an hour or so that he was involved he gave, in my opinion, an absolute masterclass in full back play.
Not only was his passing, crossing and throwing absolutely excellent .... he is surely the best passer of a ball over distance in the football club by a country mile? But, he also had two fantastic shots near the end which tested their keeper to the absolute full ... how refreshing it is to see one of our players shooting from distance whilst still managing to keep the ball on target and under the bar!
I have a feeling that it may well be his last appearance in a Torquay shirt and if that is the case well, if you are reading this Kevin, then let me tell you, you went out of the club on an absolute high today ... no matter the result, no matter where we are in the league table that was not of your doing because to day you gave it your all and so very nearly, almost single handedly, turned the game around.
I accept that Adam Smith played quite well, but for me today Kevin Nicholson was man of the match by a clear margin. He did everything in his power to turn the game around and with a bit more luck he might just have achieved that, His sweet left foot was working better than ever, and we looked so much more dangerous going forward when he was consistently delivering quality balls into the box. In the end, it was too little, too late, to save the game but it certainly wasn't through the lack of trying on Nico's part!
Finally, I was chatting to "superfan" Paul b****** after the game in the Gulls Nest after the game and he was lucky enough to chat to Nico after the game.
He (Nico) had this to say...
"I am not an emotional man, but if this turns out to be my last game ... it meant so much to me to hear my name being chanted by the fans near the end".
As one of the fans who was chanting his name the loudest, I would just like to add that this was in no way an anti Buckle type chant as perhaps some of the Greavsie chants were earlier in the year .... believe me this was simply because Nico was bleddy excellent for the whole of the time he was on the pitch!
Personally, if that was to be his final bow at Plainmoor then, on a disappointing day for the club, I am absolutely delighted for the man himself, because today Kevin Nicholson showed what he is all about and he, at least, can hold his head very high tonight ... despite the result.
I really hope that he finds a club before the loan deadline closes on Thursday as I think he deserves it. He is clearly no longer wanted at TUFC and I can only imagine how he must have felt as the likes of Adam Smith, Sam Cox, Lathaniel Rowe-Turner and Mo Camara have been chosen ahead of him over the last few months.
Hopefully a decent BSP side will come in for him this week, or dare I say it even a League 2 side? Personally after what I saw with my own eyes today he is certainly good enough to do a job at this level, OK, so he never will be and never was, the quickest full back out there but there is so much more to his game than that and I felt privileged today to watch a masterclass in the art of full back play.
Wishing you all the best Kevin, like I say, hope you get fixed up this week and all the best for the future, wherever that may be ... and thanks for the memories.
