I still think of it as the European cup but thats another story
Been looking at the remaining teams in the CL this season and I have a feeling the old trophy is coming back to England again. Madrid are out, Milan are out, Man U are in good form and I think Chelski will turn around the Inter result. I have a feeling if they avoid each other in the other rounds it will be another Chelski v Man U final and I hate to say it but think its Chelski's year
Anyone agree/disagree?

Sorry its staying in Barcelona for another 12 months.
Porto and Milan have been crap this week so no real difficulty for Man Ure or Arsenal.
Dont mind who wins it though as long as its not the Mancs ;D

The title of this thread is a complete misnomer, isn't it ?
There was a time when only the League winners from each country were eligible for this competition. Now one of the main topics in the media, which is constantly on people's minds, is who is likely to finish fourth, as though that were some huge achievement.
There are far too many of these European games, which cause great distraction from our own League matches in the fact that players are "rested" or substituted, and results are often distorted because of this.
There is also pressure on the England team, which is the most important team in this country, when club managers try to resist call-ups for friendly internationals.
It's really all about finance and players becoming millionaires as a result of money gained through TV coverage. No wonder there is such a hiatus between the top half dozen clubs and the rest.
Yes, there is a good chance that an English club will win the European Cup this year, but if we are talking about a cup for champions, then surely only Manchester United should be eligible to do this.

I wont get started on tne subject of players being "rested" as its a sore point! But yeah I agree why call it the champions league when teams like 4th placed Liverpoo can win it?

All they have managed to do is water down what was a good competition and demean it`s title, yet again it`s all about money that can be made instead of the game itself, a sad reflection of where football and society is heading!
