0-0 Half Time but Oxford had Clarke sent off after 39 mins.. so I only need Barrow to get one goal in the second half then, yes I forgot, Oxford to get THREE, so that I will be able to get my first 3 points ;D

I need 2 for Oxford and 1 for Barrow. I also need Oxford to win because they are one of the teams on an accumulater bet, I did, for the weekend.

Did anyone see the game? a lot of people were tipping Oxford this year (again!) Its certainly a good result for ourselves but were Oxford really that poor? or was it a case of Barrow being up for it more as it was more of a cup game for them.
I had predicted 3 nil do I get any points for that? ;D ;D

Oxford really were that poor, but you have to give Barrow credit for the way they played. Although Oxford had a player quite correctly sent off for a tackle over the top of the ball, they were second best until that point as well with Barrow hitting the bar and missing a golden chance with a free header when the supposed solid U's defence went completely missing.
Oxford, as often happens, were lively with 10 men for the first 15 minutes of the second half, but Barrow pressed on and got reward with a 25-yard free-kick that completely baffled Oxford's young keeper - completely on the wrong side of the goal. A penalty followed soon after, the Barrow attacker going over before reaching the goalie's out-stretched arms, much like Ebbsfleet's penalty at Wembley, and a well-taken third in 12 mad minutes ended things.
Not saying Oxford's struggles will be repeated in other games, but their vaunted front-line of Constable and Yemi struggled, with the former spending the whole game moaning at the referee, who showed too much patience in not booking him in my opinion. Adam Murray showed spurts of ability as did Haldane and Carruthers, but their manager will have to be worried about their effort at times.
Barrow on the other hand must be delighted and they have the players to threaten plenty of teams. Carlos Logan, considering he had been out of the game since February, was excellent before succumbing to cramp, and his replacement who scored the third looked very tricky. Two solid centre-halves as well, as you need in this division.
Excellent curtain-raiser to the season, and looking forward to a trip to Holker Street later in the campaign.

Apart from the fact i've lost a bet, it is a positive that Oxford were so heavily beaten. They were being tipped by many and they have started the season in an atrocious fashion which may suck the confidence out of them. Therefore, for us, its good to see them struggle. Though, i would'nt count them out yet, purely the size of their club is threatening.

Well its not the start they would have wanted and I'm sure it will act as a wake up call, if they needed one. Football will always throw up results you would not expect, that happens at every level.
No games are ever easy, they may often look like they should be on paper, we all know that to our cost, over the years. Still its nice to see teams around us, getting off to a poor start, lets hope we do not suffer the same fate today as Oxford did.
I already have heard some fans starting to give Buckle only so much time in his job and we still have not even kicked a ball in the league yet.
