Saturday afternoon's entertainment for me, whilst some of you lot where watching the Burton Albion match, was taking in a Finnish Ice Hockey SM-Liiga (bloody vowels again) match between Jokerit Helsinki and JYP Jyväskylä. This is the highest level of Ice Hockey in Finland and the top players will eventually head off to the NHL is search of the big bucks. Finland are currently ranked in the top four or five teams in the world. The roster for the 2010 Winter Olympics only includes Finnish players based in the USA, Canada and couple from Kazan in Russain and Frolunda in Sweden.
Jokerit play their hockey at the Hartwall Areena which holds 13,464 fans. There was about 10,000 fans their on Saturday. It was my first Ice Hockey game and I quite enjoyed it. They even have dancing girls!
