I’m not a person who really likes change, but if changes have been made and I can see a real improvement, then I will embrace them and in time get used to them. I have always been a home boy and I do feel so happier and secure in a world I know and one that will not give me too many unexpected surprises I may not like or want.
I like routine; I like to know where everything is, it helps me to have the control I feel I need in my life, it also plays a big part in me feeling I belong where I am. Before I left to come home from work today I prepared all I needed too, so I know what I want to do and where I plan to go to find work for our company.
But my mornings have had a change forced upon me and while I knew it was going to happen and I told myself I just had to give this change a fair chance to see if I liked it or not, after just two days I’m hating the change and will now need to make a few changes myself.
Until this Monday morning as I set out on the road in my van I was greeted by Sarah Kennedy’s show on radio two until 7.30am and around 7.15am she always played a show tune and it would be a guide when it came on, as to if I was in front or behind time wise.
Then at 7.30 it was the Terry Wogan Breakfast Show, nice and laidback and the man really has such a great sense of humour and then there was also the Janet and John stories, add to that the fact that the man loves ELO and always gets one track in most days. I have really enjoyed his show and they kept me happy as I drove along, they have been such a big part of my morning life.
His time to give it up had come along and when I heard it was Chris Evans taking over the show, I thought them that I really did not think I was going to like this change. The times of the shows have also been changed, Sarah Kennedy now finishes at 7am and does the show tune around 6.45am, when it comes on I have forgotten it’s now on a different time and I look to see where I am and wonder why I’m so far behind on my journey.
But worst is to come as the Chris Evans Breakfast Show will start in 15 minutes time. On Monday I really did try and make myself enjoy this new breakfast show, but I can’t stand his voice and he has put to many things in the show.
Today I had it on but just did not listen, instead I let my mind go where ever it wanted to go and that can be a good things sometimes and other times it’s a bad thing. Aussie and I talked on the phone the other day about being out on the road all day on your own and the danger of having certain types of radio programs on to listen too.
On the days when you may have things going on that might just make you end up thinking about them and nothing else, Aussie said that listening to a program that had a debate, or mostly talking on it, was a good way to stop your mind going into overdrive, as you would be listening and paying more attention to the show.
I do know tomorrow I will have to retune my radio away from radio two at 7am, you see some changes really are not for the best and so I’m forced now to be the one who makes a change that will make my mornings as happy as they were when Terry did the breakfast show.

Dave give Absoulte radio a try. MW 1197-1215, thats what I listen to whilst making the breakfast at work. Christian O'Connell runs beween 6 and 10 he's very amusing and the you have Russ Williams after. Between 10 and 11 they do an 80's hour.
I know it's on MW but I recomend it. It does'nt play shitty chart music and hip hop and all that crap. I think you may enjoy it. Nothing ventured and all that!
Oh and if you have DAB fitted in the van you can get it on that to.

Paps, is it a national broadcast? one reason I stick with radio two is I can stay on the same station all day, I can't do that with local broadcasts due to the miles I do each day.
Will check it out and let you know what I think about it.

Yep it's a national broadcast, it's former name was Virgin Radio. The only thing I do worry about is with you going all over the place and it being on MW that the signal may not be great in certain places.

I sympathise with you Dave. What a man listens to when he's in his own company is an important thing. I consider myself a little young for the Wogan demographic ( ), but it cannot be denied that the man can be amusing, and it must be a big loss to Radio 2 listeners. If I were in your shoes Dave, I'd be tempted to stock up my iPod with a bunch of tunes and a few decent podcasts - don't know if you use podcasts already Dave, but there are some excellent ones, covering everything from comedy, current affairs through to music and sport. Who needs a DJ when any owner of an iPod can be their own? And it's only the timeslot left by Wogan you have to fill. I have to say, I dislike radio DJs in general. I don't know what other's thoughts are on this, but to my mind, DJs should be there to play music - the odd humerous quip maybe - but not an endless stream of drivel. Too many DJs think they're bigger than the music they play. How millions can listen to that imbecile Chris Moyles, who can't play any more than about four or five songs an hour, will forever be a mystery to me.

Heres the thing I tried a few other stations and mostly had problems with them moving from county to county. This last week my mind really has not been able to concentrate and got to a point it would not let me even think ;D So I have had Mr Evans on while not really hearing it if you know what I mean. But today I gave it a chance again and I'm starting to get used to it and while I would not say I'm madly in love with the show, I do feel its starting to grow on me.

The thing that does my head in Stuart is getting radio Wales traffic reports when I get near Weston Super Mare, good job I can just touch a button and get back to Mr Evans, he sounds so much better after a Wales traffic report ;D

I now want my Chris back, OK I did not take to the Chris Evans show when he first took over from Terry Wogan, I expect it was more to do with change than anything else.
Well back at work today( phoning all day to check on Carol who is still a concern) and I find Chris is away for two weeks and in his place is Graham Norton.
Now I don't mind the guy when he is on the TV, but I have found Chris Evans is so bright and his show does lift your sprites with his wit etc, today I had to fight to keep my eyes open when driving as Norton was sending me to sleep.

I've stopped listening to the ginger haired tw*t in the mornings - makes me more grumpy than I already am by the time I get to work. Why do they need a sports bloke to read out 1 minute of sports guff each day.
