Bridgwater v Taunton on New Year's Day.
According to the Somerset County Gazette, dear old Westy is "up for it":
“It’s massively frustrating having so many games called off. We put together some good performances and needed to bounce on but that has gone down the pan. It means the Bridgwater game is huge and, for me, it’s our biggest of the season. It won’t be about football, it will be like a war".
Bring it on, but I fear the frost may put pay to the best (or hopelessly) laid battle plans....

I would expect a certain Mr Barton Downs to be at this game and will look forward to one of his special reports Not a great deal to report, Dave, but Bridgwater Town will be well-pleased with succeeding in getting this game played considering they won 1-0 in front of a decent crowd of 1,016. With tonight’s freezing conditions I doubt this game would have survived had it been a Saturday fixture. Not a great match to watch - best placed in the "absorbing" category to be truthful - but the conditions couldn't have helped (soft on top, hard underneath with the temperature most likely going back below freezing by the final whistle). With a degree of bias I'd say Taunton were worth a point as they generally matched a team which is currently averaging two points a game. The only goal came when ex-Torquay player Raiff Gwinnett lost the ball pushing forward and the covering defender clumsily conceded a penalty at the angle of the box. Young scored from the spot. Matt Villis and Steve Orchard played for Bridgwater whilst Paul West kept us amused with his cheery belligerence from the touchline (at one stage he complained he couldn't see down the touchline because the Bridgwater manager's nose was obscuring the view). It was an occasionally fiery affair and there was one sending off after an off-the-ball incident which saw a Taunton player collapse in a heap. Overall, not bad value for £7 and an extra pound for a Bovril/Kit Kat combo. The result leaves Bridgwater 4th in the table – with games in hand – in a league where it’s one up automatically and a second team through the play-offs. And, given Windsor and Eton’s lead at the top, it looks like it could just be the play-off place up for grabs. Bridgwater certainly seem to have ambition with a new 160-seat stand due to arrive the week after next. And, lastly, a good effort on the programme front with a teasing New Year Quiz. Fingers on the buzzer please: A supplementary question from today's programme: which club are known as the Satsumas?
