With all this talk about X Factor on here and the fact that we will have different tastes in music, I feel we should have a poll of all TFF members and see what type of music comes out as the most popular.
You each can cast two votes in this poll and please post what you selected and why you love that type of music so much.

I like loads of music...and like most people I suppose, it depends on my mood what I listen to.
I chose folk and blue as my selections, however.

I've had to select Motown and Blues from your list, Dave, because I loved the Motown groups Four Tops and Temptations and also John Mayall's Bluesbreakers and American legends such as John Lee Hooker and Muddy Waters.
However, my three all-time favourites are Bob Dylan, Roxy Music and Elton John, none of whom can really be placed in any of the listed categories.

Dave, I would need to put two votes in 'other' - Prog Rock and Punk/New Wave?

How can you have the 50's and 60's together? Those two decades really moved popular music on but there was such a diversity of styles within them (not that I am old enough to have witnessed them first-hand mind!)
Heavy Metal is not the same as Heavy Rock. Northern Soul is not Soul. Modern R&B is certainly not the R&B I grew up on!
Where do you categorise some bands eh?
My loves are -
The Beatles The Who Led Zep Ocean Colour Scene Primal Scream Red Hot Chillli Peppers Kula Shaker The Verve The Stones Bowie and Mozart.
How do you fit them in??

Midlandstufc You have just fitted them all in mate (in your reply) They are too diverse to categorise in just two votes. Like most of us you have eclectic tastes. To vote you would have to choose your favourite two different types of band and just go for it with Daves selections! I could have gone for blues, jazz, big band, dance, country, folk, glam rock or motown as I love all these sounds depending on my mood.
Thank God we have such variety, as music really does make the world go around and makes life bearable in its own inimitable way!
