I heard tonight that darts commentator Syd Waddell believes that Phil Power Taylor is the greatest sportsman of all time, never mind Pele, Don Bradman or Muhammad Ali.
Time for the men in white coats to pay a visit to Pudsey, where this idiot apparently lives.

I think, for start, its fair to say that you can't really classify Darts as a Sport!! Well, like it or not it is a sport. Phil Taylor consequently has been a top sportsman in his field for many years and has won twice as many professional tournaments as anybody else in his sport. It's a daft question really. It is Syd Waddell we're talking about here. He once compared Eric Bristow in 1985 to Alexander the Great by saying "When Alexander of Macedonia was 33 he cried salt tears because there were no more worlds to conquer - Bristow is only 27!" It's a really difficult question to answer though as there are so many sports and you can't compare one to the other. Take Formula One. Michael Schumacher was a great driver and won many world championships but I would hardly call him a Great Sportsman after ruthlessly shunting off Damon Hill and trying to do the same to Jacques Villeneuve a few years later. Senna was the same, Nigel Mansell was just all about bravado and James Hunt got out of his car on the grid at Monza in 1978 to try and pull his friend Ronnie Peterson from a burning car. Could Stirling Moss be described as the greatest sportsman driver even though he never won a world championship.
