Well. Newport County are currently 8 points clear of Dover Athletic in the Blue Square South. They are now managed by Dean Holdsworth rather than that oaf Peter Beadle. You never know. We might have a 4th Welsh team in the football league again fairly soon. They're getting decent crowds as well. The last one against Bromley was over 2,000. Saw Newport draw 1-1 at Bath today. A tight game and a fair result. Not great to watch - it didn't exactly improve as it progressed (although the elements didn't help) - but Newport look competent enough to succeed. Particularly liked their attacking players Reid, Foley and Holgate. Surprised Bath aren't doing better as they pretty much matched Newport in most departments. Bath had Kaid Mohamed who was largely ineffective and Andrejs Stolcers came on as sub - just as I saw him make a substitute appearance for Latvia (v Holland) in Euro 2004 at Braga (sorry I couldn't resist that one). Crowd of 1400 - I'd say around 500 from Newport. At first it was announced the away fans would kept behind for five minutes after the final whistle (or "kick off" as the tannoy boy mistakenly said several times); then it was announced that would be the fate of the home supporters. But, either way, we weren't waiting for Eric: And how's this for a cracking football programme advert?
